James entering the Rikoto League...I don't think so, for starters, Ash has always been the only 'main' character to enter in the leagues, and now we have Cole also battling the gym leaders for gym medals, so having James do it too would be weird, also he would have to have 6 pokemon and team rocket have never had more than 4 at once.

Mixing The Old With The New
Carrying on from last weeks story, Ella and Trissy decide to have a battle. Ash, Cole and Pikachu watch from the sideline as Ella and Trissy stand opposite one another. “Our first battle with each other” says Trissy, “Yeah, and I’m gonna win” says Ella, Ella pulls out a pokeball and throws it and out comes Pruddy, Trissy pulls a pokeball out of her bag and throws it, and out comes Eevee. “An Eevee huh…” Cole says pulling out his Pokedex, Eevee, the evolution pokemon, Eevee can evolve into many types depending on it’s surroundings. “Nice Eevee” Ella says, “Thanks and your Pruddy looks good too!” Trissy says, “But lets get to the battle” Trissy tells Eevee to use Quick attack, Eevee speeds up and hits Pruddy, Pruddy gets back up, “Pruddy use Psybeam!” Ella calls out, Pruddy uses Psybeam hitting Eevee, Eevee is stuck inside the Psybeam, Trissy tells Eevee to use shadow ball, Eevee uses Shadow ball in Pruddy’s Psybeam causing an explosion, Eevee and Pruddy are sent flying, after the smoke clears Eevee and Pruddy are still standing but only just, Trissy tells Eevee to use Swift, Eevee uses swift hitting Pruddy, causing it to faint, Trissy wins. Ella walks over to Pruddy and picks it up giving it a pat on the head and telling it, it did a good job, Ella returns it to it’s pokeball. “That was a good battle” Trissy says, “And I can tell that you received Pruddy from Stella” she says, “Yes I did, and I guess you got Eevee from Evelyn” Ella says, Cole and Ash don’t know who Stella and Evelyn are and Ash asks, “Well Stella is my sister, and Evelyn is Trissy’s” Ella says, “And they are both top type coordinators” Trissy says, “What’s that” says Cole, Trissy explains, (Top type coordinators are like gym leaders, in order to get a ribbon you have to compete in the appeal round and past that, then compete in the battle round, and then the top 3 get to face the top type coordinator, and only if you defeat them you get a ribbon.) So Ella and Trissy want to follow in their sister’s footsteps. In the bushes Team Rocket are watching them, Jesse says to her self “Type contests aye…that’s it I’m gonna enter in the type contest and win!” James and Meowth look at each other and sigh. At a restaurant, Cole and Ella eat lunch with Trissy, and Ella and Trissy talk about type contest some more, Just then a familiar face walks in, it’s Brock! “Brock!” Ash says running over to him, “You finally made it here!” Ash says holding Pikachu, “Pika!” Brock says hi and pats Pikachu on the head, “Sorry for being so late, I just had to sort some stuff out back home” he says, Ash introduces Brock to Cole, Ella and Trissy, Ash tells them that Brock has travelled along side him through many regions, and that he was the gym leader of Pewter city in Kanto, Cole immediately interrupts Ash, “What you were a gym leader!” he says with excitement, “Yeah I used to, but now my brother Forest is”, “Wow that’s so cool!” Cole says with a big grin on his face, “So Brock who did you bring along with you?” Ash asks, Brock pulls out a pokeball and out comes Sudowoodo, “Ah Sudowoodo, good to see you again!” Ash says as Pikachu jumps down and grabs Sudowoodo’s arms and starts dancing, Brock sits down and asks Cole why he is asking all these questions, Cole tells Brock how he wants to be a gym leader and how he is entering in the gym contests, Ash says that they should head back to the Pokemon center to rest for the night, they all agree and leave for the Pokemon center for the night. The next day the group are outside feeding their pokemon, a group of Cheepip fly down and start pecking on the ground, “What pokemon is that?” Ash says pulling out his Pokedex, “Cheepip, the chirping pokemon, Cheepip’s tail resembles a leaf allowing it to hide in trees away from threats” The group smile as they watch the Cheepip peck the ground for food, Trissy walks up to them and places some Pokefood on the ground, the Cheepip smile and start eating the food. Just then a net flies down onto the groups Pokemon catching them inside and pulling them up, “HAHAHAHA…” a laugh is heard, The group look up to see Team Rocket inside their balloon
“Prepare for trouble, and make it quadruple” Here again we’re in your face Bringing chaos to every place Stealing your pokemon is what we do And bringing trouble just for you Jesse! James! Meowth’s the name, WOBBA! We’re team rocket…” “Quit it!” Brock shouts, “don’t you know it’s getting old?” he says, “Hey it’s that older twerp,” James says, “Ha, ha, ha or what” Jesse says, Brock gets angry, Ash tells Pikachu to use Iron tail on the net to set them free, Pikachu uses Iron tail on the net but it doesn’t do anything, Meowth laughs “We’re not that stupid, this net is made by an unbreakable thread” Ash gets even more angry, Trissy asks the Cheepip if they can help set their Pokemon free, the Cheepip look at each other and agree, they all fly up and start pecking Team Rocket, Meowth drops the remote over the side, and Cole catches it, Cole presses the button setting the pokemon free, but they are falling, Ella tells Pruddy to use Psychic to stop them falling, Pruddy does and saves them but Paracaw is still falling, Ash tells Paracaw to fly, but Paracaw freezes again, so Ash runs over and dives catching Paracaw in his arms, Team Rocket get angry and send out their pokemon, Yanmega and Carnivine, Jesse tells Yanmega to use Steel Wing, Yanmega heads straight for Cole but Purrlit jumps in and uses Iron tail sending Yanmega flying back into Jesse and James, James tells Carnivine to use Bullet seed, Carnivine uses Bullet seed and Trissy tells Eevee to use Shadow ball, the shadow ball hits the bullet seed stopping it, Brock tells Sudowoodo to use Rock throw to pop the balloon, Sudowoodo picks up a rock and throws it straight at the balloon popping it, the balloon and Team Rocket come crashing to the ground, Ash then tells Pikachu to use thunder bolt to send them flying, Pikachu charges up and strikes Team Rocket blowing them up and sends them blasting off again. Everybody hugs their pokemon for doing so good, Trissy thanks the Cheepip and they smile and fly away, except one, it stays Trissy looks at it and it looks back, Trissy asks if I wants to stay with her, it smiles and nods, Trissy smiles back, she pulls out a pokeball and let in inside, the pokeball rocks a little and stops, Trissy catches Cheepip! “Congratulations on the capture Trissy!” everybody says, Trissy thanks them, and says that she better be going now and tells Ella that she’ll see her in the contests, “Nice to meet you all” she says and walks away, the group wave her goodbye. Cole asks Brock if he is going to travel with them, and he says “of course!” and the group head back to the pokemon center to heal up. Later that day the group say goodbye to Nurse Joy and thank her, Nurse Joy tells them that they should go to Mossy forest since it’s on the way to Serpintine City, they agree and head towards Mossy Forest waving goodbye!
Notes:
Trissy’s sister Evelyn is a top coordinator in the Normal type rank. Ella’s sister Stella is a top coordinator in the Psychic type rank. -----------------------------------------------------------------
I may write a flashback scene of what Brock had to take care of at the Pewter gym.

Well I thought of that but I couldn't come up with anything for it, like why the boss would want it, so I just had that Team rocket wanted it because it was super strong. and Paracaw does know other attacks, but can't use them because it has to fly to use them, i.e Wing Attack, Gust, Aerial Ace.

Episode 4: A Cause for a Paracaw!
Cole stepped off the granite slab and onto the next flat rock. He strained to move up the steep hill, Ella right behind him and Ash already waiting at the top for them. Ella was constantly telling him to hurry up, but he was just trying to be careful not to lose balance and tumble down the large hill to his death. He moved over the spontaneous patches of grass growing between the stairs of stones. The sole of his hoes was being worn from all of the walking, and soon there’d be holes in them. He had a couple of yards up still to go, but the stone staircase swerved to the right and left a lot, so that meant a lot more than a couple of yards. He reached his foot out to the next stone slab and the sole of his shoe scrapped against the edge. As he tried to gain footing on the rock and lift himself up, his foot lost its grip on the rock and he lost his balance, falling on the rock. “Cole!” Ella raced toward him, sprinting up the rocks. She bent down beside him. “Are you okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine.” She helped him up and they continued up the rock staircase. Cole reached the top and Ella stepped up right behind him, Ash, keeping the lead and walking onto a pathway that ran through the forest. They walked under the high canopy, dithered light seeping through the treetops and foliage cultivating at the edge of the dirt path. They bent under low branches and stepped over fallen trees and overgrown plants, continuing down the path. Then something caught Ash’s eye. He turned to his right and gripped a vacant pokéball at his belt. A Pokémon was waddling down the side of the path, red and white plumage streaked across its body. He moved his hand to his pocket and gripped his Pokédex, swinging the top up and a voice activating after it scanned the passing Pokémon. “Paracaw, the paradise Pokémon. Paracaw are cheeky Pokémon, always in a happy mood, but very competitive in battle.” He flipped it down and stuffed it in his pocket. He was going to catch it. “Pikachu, let’s catch ourselves a Paracaw!” Pikachu leaped from Ash’s shoulder and caught the Paracaw’s attention, sparks flying from its red cheeks. The Paracaw squawked in anger and sped forward on its stubby legs and rammed Pikachu in the side, sending the yellow mouse flying into the bushes. Paracaw continued waddling down the path. Pikachu jumped from the bushes and yelled out to the Paracaw in its squealing tone. It bent down and a larger sparks flew from its cheeks as it raked at the ground with its hind leg. Then, it shot forward, bolts of electricity flying through the air, and it bashed into Paracaw, sending it too into the bushes. Pikachu waited for the Pokémon’s return, crouched on the ground, back hunched, sparks flying. Ash stood nearby, ready to give more commands to Pikachu. Then the group frowned and Pikachu looked to Ash for guidance. Paracaw didn’t step from the bushes in retaliation. It was gone. Pikachu scampered forward and leapt up into Ash’s arms. It hopped onto his back pack and rested its head on his hat. “Why did it run off like that?” Cole asked, walking over to the bush. “I don’t know, but I’m gonna find it and catch it.” Ash clenched his fist and marched off into the underbrush. “Wait, Ash. You don’t even know where it went.” Ella pitched. “I don’t care, I’m going to find it!” The group walked off into the forest.
James turned to Jesse in astonishment. “That Paracaw was strong.” He said in disbelief. “Yeah it was!” Jesse answered standing up in the bushes and looking down at the path. “Did you see how it knocked Pikachu so far?” She turned around and looked at James. “So how’re we gonna get it?” He shrugged. “That’s Meowth’s job, not mine.” Meowth looked at her, thinking of the many times they’ve been beaten by Ash and his Pikachu. Then he thought of the way Paracaw fought. He smiled.
Ash stepped from the bush and peered down into another. “Paracaw.” He said to himself. “Where are you?” His voice was in a stage whisper, as if he was yelling, but trying not to be heard. He looked up and glanced at a tree, peering up into the canopy. No Paracaw. “Hey, Ash.” Cole ran up to him and stood nearby, still checking for the Paracaw. “I wonder why it didn’t fly.” “I don’t know, maybe it never learned.” “Or maybe something tragic happened in its life that made it not want to.” Ella said from up in a tree. “Yeah; maybe.” She jumped down and they continued looking. Then a red bird stepped from a nearby bush and started waddling across to another one. It was Paracaw. Cole and Ella raced over to him as he commanded Pikachu to attack. Pikachu jumped from his shoulder and lashed out its tail at the colorful bird. Paracaw leaped back and gave out a squawk of anger. It wanted them to leave it be. The bird raised its wings and glared at Pikachu, then, it swung its wing down and a gust of wind whipped up and swirled at Pikachu. The wind thrashed about at the yellow mouse as Paracaw waddled into a nearby bush. Pikachu pushed through the maelstrom of wind and dashed into the bush. There was nothing but a rustle then the two Pokémon appeared, tussling on the ground. The Paracaw slashed at Pikachu with its talons and pushed the Pokémon off of it. Pikachu hit the ground and rolled over, regaining its stance, then dashing forward at the bird. Paracaw moved sideways and let Pikachu race by. It held its wing back and bent down, then contracted its muscle, making its wing look ridged and metal-like. It scraped the ground with its right talon, ready to attack. Then it did. It moved across the ground and its wing collided with Pikachu, but the yellow mouse held strong, sparks flying from its cheeks. It tumbled back across the ground and once its stopped, it dashed back at the bird, hitting it with full force, sending it too tumbling cross the ground. The Paracaw stopped cold on the ground and looked up. Pikachu was emitting large volts of electricity now, ready to attack again if necessary. But it wasn’t necessary, for Paracaw didn’t move, it just lay there and stared at Pikachu. That’s went Ash, pulled a vacant pokéball from his belt and enlarged it in his hand, throwing it at the Paracaw that lay on the ground. The ball enveloped the bird in a red light and dropped to the ground. It rocked back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, then stopped and its button glowed red and the ball clicked. Paracaw was his. “Yes! I’ve caught Paracaw!” Ash said, jumping about and picking up the ball. He threw it to the ground and the red and white bird appeared. They greeted the bird and introduced themselves. The Pokémon looked up eager to travel now, but still a little upset about the battle. Then Ash asked the question that was on all of their minds: Why can’t you fly? The Pokémon just sank in its puffy plumage and sulked on the ground. It let out what sounded like a whimper, it was embarrassed. Just then, a long vine whipped through the forest canopy and wrapped itself around Pikachu, pulling it from Ash’s shoulder. Before there was any time to comprehend what just happened, another vine lashed through the treetops and pulled Paracaw from the ground. “Team Rocket!” They heard a chuckle. Ash started forward, leaping over the underbrush and bending under branches. He swerved around trees and jumped over logs, breaking out of the forest and looking up at the floating Meowth balloon. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as he saw Pikachu and Paracaw suspended in the air by two thick green vines. The Carnivine waved the two Pokémon in the air, as if bragging that they had them, it raised them higher to make sure they were out of reach. “Give them back!” Ella shouted. “That’s no use.” Ash told her, gripping a pokéball. “They’re thieves that never learn.” Ash pulled a pokéball from his belt and just as he swung his arm out, he remembered that he had no Pokémon. His two were dangling in the air by a pair of long green vines. He attached the ball to his belt with a click. “Pikachu, shock ‘em!” Ash shouted, but just as Pikachu was about to let out its surge of electricity Jesse interrupted. “Uh, uh, uh,” she waved her finger. “If you shock us, you shock your friend too, and last I heard, Paracaw are flying type Pokémon and what are flying types weak against? Oh yeah…electric.” She chuckled and they continued floating away. Ash gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. This situation happened a lot. Cole threw out a pokéball and Purrlit leaped to the ground, flame hot and back arched. Ella sent out Pruddy, the pale cat’s purple tail swinging elegantly as it landed. Purrlit raced forward and as it was underneath the balloon spit a conflagration of fire up toward the dark green basket. Just as the flames were about to set the basket ablaze, Jesse sent out Wobbuffet and it put it hands to its head. The flames stopped and turned, racing back toward Purrlit. Pruddy leapt into the air, a smile on its face and the flames stopped again, racing back to the basket. Then, the flames dispersed; just a poof and gone. James sent out Solshrub and the Pokémon rolled in the air, landing on the rail of the basket. Pruddy spun about, the air around it sparkling, then stopped and a beam of light flew through the air. Solshrub braced itself and just as the beam of light was to hit them, a shield of energy wrapped itself around the balloon, deflecting the attack. The beam faded and the shield shrunk until it was nothing. At that moment, Solshrub was lifted from the rail with a strong force and pushed into Carnivine with even more force. Carnivine lurched back with Solshrub and fell into the basket. The vines lost their grip on the two Pokémon and the creatures fell through the air. Pikachu clasped Paracaw and the two squealed as they fell through the cool air. Ash ran to their growing shadow and looked up at the two Pokémon that were racing toward him. He reached his arms out and they landed in them, causing him to pitch back. He brought the close in a hug. “No! I won’t let you spoil this chance!” Jesse shouted from the balloon. She threw a pokéball to the ground and a large snake slithered toward them. The Pokémon chose its target quickly and wrapped itself around Pruddy, hissing in delight. Paracaw dashed forward on its small feet, talons sinking into the moist earth, and its wing rigged and strong. It slammed into the snake, but fell backward. The skin was too thick to pierce. The tail reached out with great celerity and latched onto the bird, the bird squawking in terror. Its grip tightened on the two captured Pokémon. Purrlit stood off in the distance and watched, horrified. Pruddy was crying for mercy and Paracaw was screeching in pain. Its friends were hurt. Purrlit came to its senses and made into a mad dash toward the large snake. It unsheathed its claws and leapt into the air. It swung its paw back, bringing it and its claws down on the snake. It raked and raked and raked with its sharp claws, slashing at the rough skin. No blood was drawn, nothing but the slight hiss of the creature holding it friends. The snake rolled Paracaw down its tail and reached out toward Purrlit, but the cat wasn’t going to be taken captive. It leaped back and raced to the snake’s side, slashing with all of its might at the skin near Paracaw. Blood seeped from the small cut inflicted. The snake winced in pain and loosened its grip for a moment, a moment just long enough for Paracaw to slip from the snake’s grasp. Paracaw squawked and bent its wing and made it rigged, racing forward and slamming into the snake. The already weakened snake tumbled back and let go of Pruddy. Pikachu dashed into the action and let out a surge of electricity sending it crashing into Seviper. The snake flew through the air and bashed into the balloon. The thieves were nothing but a twinkle in the sky. Ash clasped Paracaw in his arms and smiled down at it. It smiled back and squawked in delight. “You did good, Paracaw.” He said. The Pokémon squawked again. “But why didn’t you fly?” It shook its head. “Can you fly?” Ella asked. It nodded. “Are you too scared?” Cole asked. It nodded. “Why?” Ash asked. It shook its head. It didn’t want to say. “Well we’ll help you out, Paracaw. Trust me. You’ll be flying in no time!” The Paracaw looked worried and buried its face in Ash’s arms.
Ash walked to the counter and pushed his pokéballs to the nurse on the other side. She smiled and placed them gently in a red machine. Cole did the same, as well as Ella, and the three of them made their way to a nearby couch. “Well if it isn’t Ella.” A voice chirped. Ella turned and saw a girl of her age. She was dressed in green, along with her hair being lime green. “What did you do with your hair?” Ella said sarcastically. She ran forward and wrapped her arms around her friend. She turned to Ash and Cole who were smiling. “This is my old friend Trissy. We weren’t exactly friends at first but we learned to like each other. Our sisters were friends and we were forced to spend time together.” They let go of one another and Ella walked over to Cole and Ash. “What’re you doing here, though?” Ella asked. “To sign up for type contests, what else?” “You mean—” “Yeah, you can sign up for type contests here.” “Would you like to sign up?” the nurse said from across the room. She overheard their conversation. No wonder, they were the only ones talking. “Yeah.” The two walked over to the counter. The nurse did some high-tech stuff on a computer. A green light flashed over the two girls and scanned their faces. It moved up and down then faded. The nurse pressed a button and a small device on the counter printed a card from each of them. The card was thick, not like a playing card, more like an I.D. The girls took them and put them into their pockets. “What’s a Type Contest?” Ash asked. Ella answered. “It’s just like a normal contest, you know what those are, right?” Ash nodded and Ella continued. “Except you use a certain Pokémon in particular, the one the contest is requiring. You then battle the type coordinator and the winner receives a type ribbon. Once you get five ribbons, you can enter the Grand Festival.” The nurse tapped her hand on the counter to get the girls’ attention. “Excuse me, pardon my interruption, but here you are.” She slid two steel cases across the counter. She opened one to show them the inside. It was stuffed with a grey fabric and five indentations were made in the form of ribbons. They thanked her and made their way toward the door. “Now I just have to get five ribbons.” Ella said closing her case and putting it in her bag. “Me too.” “I’ll get all five ribbons then I’ll go into the Grand Festival and win!” “Not if I beat ya to it!” “We’ll see.”

Do the spelling mistakes really matter? you get the gist of it anyway, and remember sometimes I writing these at 1-2 in the morning trying to finish them.

that's cause it's more like me saying it, telling the readers what it is. sorta like if it were on t.v Ash and Cole would be talking it would go silent, while a voice over explained what a gym contest was.

Episode 3: It’s all Family, Friends, and Rivals!
Ash tightened the strap and pulled his bag over his shoulders, breathing out and watching his breath linger in front of him for a moment, then dispersing. The sun was shining brightly, but emitted no heat, as they packed up from the previous night’s stay. They camped out last night, since it got too late to keep walking. Before they pitched their tents and rolled out their sleeping bags, they decided that they’d go to Mossy Town on the way to Serpintine City. Cole told Ash that his family lived there, and that he wanted to show them his newly received Purrlit. He was very excited. Ash gripped his backpack’s straps and started down the road with Cole right behind him. Pikachu rested quietly on his shoulder as he moved down the pathway with ease. No rush, he thought. “This is so awesome!” Cole said, fidgeting as he walked. He couldn’t keep still. “I can’t wait to show them Purrlit! He’s so cool!” He looked down at his belt where his one pokéball was attached. He smiled when Purrlit came to mind. “Ash, isn’t this awesome?” Ash looked at him. It really wasn’t awesome, but he didn’t want to sound rude. “Yeah, awesome.” He said, not the slightest sound of sarcasm in his voice. They walked together for a while down the path, silence befalling them. Cole was still trembling with excitement and Pikachu was still taciturn upon Ash’s shoulder, ears perked high. Ash stepped over a pothole in the path and so did Cole, continuing to walk and still not talking on this fine day in the forest. The birds were singing in the green canopy above, ruffling their feathers and huddling together to keep warm on this cool morning. Animals in the hollow trees watched the two as they meandered down the causeway, caution welling up in their gentle souls. The two soon came to a river that ran far into the mountains and up the rocky masses, weaving in and out of stone towers and into the breathing ocean that swelled serenely. A thick fallen tree acted as a bridge across the river, touching down on the other side. They each stepped onto the long log and walked across it, stepping down onto the dirt path on the other side. A herd of Bibaral and Bidoof were hacking away at trees in the forest with their mighty teeth, letting them fall onto the ground with great thuds that shook the earth. The river sloshed around underneath the log, cold spray lashing up at the passersby, then falling back into the running water below. Finally Cole broke the silence that befell them all this way. "Did you know my brother's a Gym Leader?" Cole stepped beside Ash, looking at him with his sea-blue eyes. "No, I didn't. Was I supposed to?" Ash said, feeling a pain in his stomach. Cole’s brother was to be his future opponent. "No. It’s just that you'll have to face him soon and so'll I."Cole too felt a pain in his stomach as he thought of fighting his brother. "Oh, so you're doing Gym Battles?" "No. Gym Contests," "What're those?" Ash stopped and turned to Cole. "They're just like Gym Battles, except you don't get badges, you get medals. And you only need five medals to go into the championship." "Well, what do you get when you win the championship?" Ash started walking again. "To be a Gym Leader," "So, you want to be a Gym Leader, then?" "Yeah, just like my brother, Wade. And my Dad, and my Mother, but they're retired. My brother's one in Waytide City. He specializes in water types." "What type do you want to specialize in, then?" The thought struck Cole. He had no clue what type. He never really thought about it much; just the fact about being Gym Leader was hard enough to overcome. He just shrugged his shoulders and things became quiet again.
After hours of walking deeper into the forest, they came across a Pokémon Centre. Ash pushed the door inward and the warm air greated him and Cole. The woman behind the counter greated them and Ash stepped up, handing her his Pokédex. She had a look of distraught for a moment, staring down at the device, then, as if remembering a long lost thought, jutted it into a machine and a green light flashed on. She smiled and said, “Just a moment, it’s loading your identification into the Trainer Mainstream; you’ll be entered into the Rikoto League soon.” She pointed to a couch. “You can have a seat there if you like.” Ash moved to the couch and made himself comfortable. Cole handed her his Pokédex too and she did the same, plugging it in right next to Ash’s Pokédex. “No, Gym Contests, not the League.” She brought her hand to her mouth. “Oh, dear!” She quickly pressed a series of buttons and keys and his Pokédex was ejected and she placed it into a different machine. She smiled and he took a seat by Ash, sinking his back into the soft couch. “Cole?” a voice said. He turned and saw a girl about his age, sitting not too far away from him. Her purple hair hung brilliantly, acting as a curtain. She was clothed in pink, from head to toe. It was Ella. “Is that really you, Cole?” “Ella, why’re you here?” he asked. “I could ask you the same question.” They both stood up in unison and gave one another a hug. Cole turned to Ash. “Ash, this is Ella. We were friends since kindergarten.” He turned back to Ella. “But why’re you so far away from town?” “Well, I heard from your mom that you were on your way to Professor Pinewood’s lab in Soltree, so I came to find you.” “Well, why, though?” “Well, duh silly; so I can battle you.” Cole was confused. “What? You don’t have a Pokémon, though.” “Yeah I do.” “Then where’s the pokéball.” She pointed at the lady behind the counter. The lady looked up and smiled, her hand waving profusely back and forth. She went back to her work. “She has it. This is a Pokémon Centre, idiot.” “What happened?” “On the way here, me and my Pokémon ran into some trouble. Some wild Poochyena ambushed us from out of nowhere.” She said, gesticulating the attack. “My Pokémon fought long and hard, but there were too many, and it got worn out, and they beat it up badly. So I had to carry it through the crowd of Poochyena all the way here. Luckily this place was close by.” “I’m sorry.” Cole said sympathetically. “It’s okay; she should be healed back to normal in no time. She’s a trooper, that girl.” Ella looked back at the lady and the lady waved profoundly again. Then two beeps sounded from the machines. “They’re ready, you two!” the lady jerked them from the machines and waved them in the air, jumping up and down. Ash confronted her and snatched it from her hand, Cole did the same. “These are delicate. Treat them with care.” Ash said, frowning. “But thank you.” She smiled and handed Ella her pokéball. The three walked out the door into the cool morning. “So, Cole; are you ready to battle?” “What?” “I didn’t come all this way for nothing.” Ash took a seat on a nearby bench. “Oh, yeah.” He gripped his pokéball and it grew in his hand as he pinched it. “I’m ready.” “Okay, it’s a one-on-one battle.” She threw her ball to the ground and a pallid cat emerged. “No duh.” Cole threw his to the ground too and Purrlit readied itself; flame smoldering hot at the tip of its tail. “Purrlit? Why’d you choose Purrlit?” “You’ll see in a sec.” Ash held out his Pokédex and flipped the screen up, an image of Ella’s Pokémon appearing on it. A voice activated and said: “Pruddy: the pretty Pokémon. When it wiggles its tail, supersonic waves pulsate through the air and nearby people are overwhelmed with happiness.” Ash closed it and placed it in his pocket. The battle began. Pruddy dashed forward with incredible speed and bashed into Purrlit, the two tumbling together in the dirt. Pruddy bit down on Purrlit’s ear and yanked around, its teeth not quite biting down hard enough. Purrlit rolled over and tossed Pruddy aside, sending the Pokémon crashing into the ground. Pruddy let out a yelp as it collided with the earth. It looked up, smiling, and then raced back to Purrlit, bashing into it again. Purrlit bared its teeth and snapped at Pruddy, forcing Pruddy off of it. Pruddy jumped back and wagged its tail. Purrlit smiled too, and wagged its tail just like Pruddy. Pruddy wasn’t fighting, it was playing. Cole ignored the playfulness and told Purrlit to knock it off and finish the battle. Purrlit let out a conflagration of fire, locks of smoke twisting in the air. It surrounded the white creature and raced inward. Pruddy watched as the smoldering flames leapt out toward it, a stream of light escaping its mouth, a sparkling radiance wrapped around it. Then, the fire was gone and in its place was just a ring of smoke, dispersing into the cold air. Cole saw that Purrlit lay on the ground, out cold, abrasions covering its body. The battle was over. A red light surrounded Purrlit and it was gone. The same was done to Pruddy, as Ella walked forward to Cole. “Good, job.” She held out her thumbs. “But not quite what I was expecting from you, Cole.” “It was playing, though.” “No, it was fighting. Pruddy lets its opponents think that it’s just a game to weaken them. When the opponent thinks it’s an easy win, Pruddy takes advantage and hits their weak spot.” “But—” a hand was on his shoulder. “It’s okay, we all lose sometimes.” It was Ash. “Even I do.” “So where are you two going?” Ella asked. “Mossy town. Wanna come?” Cole replied, looking back at her. “Sure, I’m heading back anyway.” They each looked at their pokéballs, the two cats resting peacefully inside the red and white spheres.
Small box houses lined the street in perfect measurements. The smell of freshly cut grass hung in the air, as the group walked down the sidewalk. The sun was high in the sky and still, no heat. It was growing colder every hour, even though the sun was growing brighter. Cole stopped at a house and turned onto the driveway, walking up to the front porch. He let himself into the house, poking his head through the doorway and scanning the front hall. No one was there. There was a car in the driveway, but no sign of anyone in the house. Cole stepped into the hallway and checked a closet. Empty. He walked through the kitchen, checking the pantry and under the table. No one there either. “What’re you doing?” Ella asked. “Shh. I’m looking for people.” She was quiet and he continued to look. He searched upstairs, through all the rooms and in the basement: no one. Then he made his way to the back door and slid it open quietly. “Surprise!” his mom jumped out at him and wrapped her arms around his frail body. He was trembling with fear. “You scared me, ma.” He said, sharing the hug. Cole’s dad walked up to him and Cole smiled. An Aron was resting in his arms, smiling too. “This is Aron, Cole.” He held the steel-framed Pokémon up to him. Cole took it in his hands and smiled. The Aron’s smile grew bigger and it let out a tiny purr. His dad took it back and set it down on the back porch, watching it scamper away into the yard. “Russ, here, just caught it yesterday. It was wandering the streets, trying to find its mother, but it failed. So he took it in.” “And Kitty, here, is nursing it back to health. It was attacked by a Tailow and had a large gash in its foreleg. Did you notice the bandage?” They smiled at each other, then a blonde boy pushed in between them and confronted Cole. The boy looked at Ash. “Who’s your friend?” “Oh, yeah, this is Ash and Pikachu. Ash is an awesome trainer and is your future opponent, Wade.” “Trainer, huh? You won’t win at my Gym.” He rolled his hand into a fist and punched it into his other hand. “I’m awesome!” “Stop being so self-absorbed, Wade.” Ella said. “Oh, hey, Ella. I haven’t seen you for a while.” “It’s been like four days.” “Oh, yeah.” He backed up. Then a cry was heard from the back yard. Everyone turned to see Aron scampering into the bushes and a robotic leg planted into the earth. Ash pushed through Cole’s parents and ran down the staircase and into the yard. The robot was large and green, steel thorns and puffy body. It was built like a Solshrub. “Go away, Team Rocket!” Ash screamed at the top of his lungs. A robotic arm shot out and latched onto Pikachu, pulling him from Ash’s shoulder. Cole and Ella gripped their pokéballs and threw them to the ground releasing Purrlit and Pruddy. The Pokémon purred as they hit the ground, readying themselves for the battle. Two more robotic arms reached out and picked up the cats, pulling them back to where Pikachu was held. The three Pokémon cried out, scared of the evil mass of metal suspending them high off the ground. “No!” the two kids shouted in unison. “Yes!” the three thieves answered, rising on a platform. “Not so fast!” Wade runs forward, throwing three pokéballs out, three Pokémon emerging and growling. A bright pink mass of coral waddled forward and let out a series of spikes, penetrating the metal surface. A tall blue salamander twisted its body fluidly and rolled its hand into a fist. The green spots on its hand glowed purple and the Pokémon dashed forward with incredible speed. Its purple fist bashed at the robot, leaving large dents in the metal structure. Then the creature with a lily pad atop its head leaped forward and a beam of light surged at the robot, sparkling radiance wrapped around it. A small crack is all that appeared. Team Rocket laughed as they watched the struggling Pokémon. Then Russ threw a pokéball and a large steel snake towered in the air, roaring in anger. It coiled its body, waiting for a command. Russ yelled out what to do and its tail beat down at the robot, tearing the leg away, sparks flying. Team Rocket screamed as the robot shook. A series of bubbles streamed from the bright pink coral. The bubbles exploded with contact of the robot and the fracture was made bigger. “Good job, Corsola.” Wade said. The coral squeaked with happiness. The beam of light surge again from the lily pad Pokémon and a ring of water pulsated through the air, colliding with the robot, breaking the other leg off and sending the robot crashing to the ground. Purrlit, Pruddy, and Pikachu, crawled toward their trainers, ready to finish the battle. Jesse threw two pokéballs out and a large snake slithered toward the group, its tail glowing purple, and a large dragonfly buzzing in the air, pointing its stinger down. James tossed his ball out and Solshrub made its dramatic entrance. The Pokémon rolled around and started charging a green ball. Yanmega zipped forward and slashed at the lily pad Pokémon with its stinger, the lily pad Pokémon jumped back and a blast of water sent Yanmega flying backward and hitting the ground. “Excellent, Lombre!” The lily pad Pokémon held its thumbs up as if agreeing. Seviper lashed out, with its fangs bared, at the salamander and the salamander held up its arm in defense, but Seviper sunk its fangs into it and threw it to the ground. “No! Salanip!” Wade ran toward it and returned it to the ball. It was in too much pain to keep going. Cole entered the battle and commanded Purrlit to use ember. A fiery blast was exerted from the cat and the flames hit Solshrub. The green Pokémon shook away the pain and finished charging the green ball, sending it toward Purrlit. The ball was moving at a tremendous speed toward Purrlit and just as it was going to fire another round of flames, a white surge blasted through the air at Solshrub and sent the Pokémon packing. Then Pikachu let out a surge of electricity and a large crack of lightings struck the yard, smoke billowing in the air as it pounded down at the thieves. The three thieves were sent flying through the air from the impact, away in the sky, rising higher and higher. Pikachu made a squeal of enjoyment as it resumed its position on Ash’s shoulder. The red splotches on its cheeks were still buzzing with electricity. “Thanks Wade.” Cole said, giving him a hug. “No problem, but it was Ash that sent them packing.” “But it was you who got Pikachu back for me.” “And Purrlit back for me.” Cole pitched. “And Pruddy for me.” Ella pointed out. Everyone looked at Wade: the hero.
The sun was rising again, and the bright morning colors where losing their hue to the baby blue sky. Ash and Ella stood outside the house, waiting for Cole to finish saying his goodbyes. They heard a ‘thank you for stopping by’ and a ‘here, take this’ but nothing else. Finally Cole was out the door, holding a package in his hands. He was opening it while he walked, unwinding the thin strings and stuffing them in his pocket. He unfolded the brown paper and saw a metal tin. It was a Medal Case and on it, was a note. He read it:
Dear, Cole
You’re a great brother, you know that, right? And soon, you’ll be a great Gym Leader. Here’s a little gift for your troubles of dealing with me over the years. I’ll be going back to Waytide City in a month or two and hope to see you there. Thanks. Love, Wade
P.S. I heard that Nate started his journey too. He says ‘hi’ and something about he’s looking forward to seeing you. Good luck!
He closed the note, smiling, and put it in the tin then moved onto the next gift. It was a strange device, round and red and white in color. It had a sticky note on it reading: Pokepod, from Mom and Dad. He placed that in the tin too and wrapped the package back up and placing it in his bag. The group walked down the sidewalk and into the nearby forest, following the dirt trail off into the sunrise, ready to start their new day and their new journey of Rikoto.

Yeah I knew it wouldn't work so well, I thought I could get away with Clyde using Jesse to steal the pokemon from the center, once all the pokeballs were put in the bag he runs off so he could give all the pokemon to Giovanni and say he did it all himself. is that better?

Episode 2: Team Breakup?
The sun was setting on the two hikers as they made their way down a dirt path. The pink and orange backdrop was growing darker, and pretty soon they’d be walking in blackness. Ash stopped and pulled out his newly received Pokédex, the blue light giving the two of them a bluish aura. He activated the map and scrolled across the region with a touch of his finger. Up the road there was supposedly a fork in the road, one leading to Mossy Town and the other to Serpintine City. The two hikers thought about their decision thoroughly.
At the same moment, a group of thieves fell from the sky and into a large willow tree, long tendrils of leaves drooping down from the thick branches as if with sadness. The group was Team Rocket, after just being defeated in an epic battle, they were exhausted. Jesse leaned back on the branch, stretching, moaning in pain. James laid to her left, him too stretched out on a branch, pain racing through his body. Meowth was caught in the tree’s leaves, suspended in the air, high above the ground. “I’m sick of this mess.” Jesse said. “Me too, why are we always losing to little kids?” James asked, splayed across the branch. They looked at Meowth, who was fighting the soulless leaves. He stopped and looked back at them. “What? It’s you’re Pokémon that always lose!” When his voice rose, it echoed in the distance. “But Chimecho and Carnivine aren’t fighters. They have kind hearts…” James trailed off, looking down at the ground. “Hey, my Pokémon are strong, it’s your plans that always get us into this mess!” “My plans? No it’s not, you guys just don’t do them right!” “No, they suck, that’s what it is!” “No, you suck!” “Well, if your plans don’t suck, then why is it that we have never, I mean never, had a Pokémon to send to the boss?” “You know what? If you don’t appreciate all the hard work I put into those plans, then I’m through with you.” Meowth slashed at the tangled leaves and dropped to the ground, walking off into the underbrush, not once turning back. Jesse and James watched him leave, rustling in the bushes and skipping over thorny vines. “We don’t need him, right Jes—” Jesse jumped from the tree branch and started off down the trail. James watched her storm off as he lay in the tree. They were like his family, and now they were gone. Then he heard a splintering sound. He looked down to see the branch breaking from underneath him. As he started to move to another branch, the one he was on fell from under him and so did he, his legs flying up as his body was thrown down. He landed on his back, throbbing pain attacking his body. He sat up, trying to ignore the pain, looking around for where to go. His eyes fell on the dirt path and he got up. He made his way toward the dirt trail, moving the way Jesse went, hoping to cross paths with her.
Jesse slowed down once she reached a fork in the road. She quickly chose to go down the left deviation, moving with motivation to get as far away from her “ex-partners”. Why did I ever bother? She thought as she moved down the winding path. The path curved left, and so did she; her long flowing hair bouncing s she turned. Her arms swung fiercely, back and forth like a pendulum. Her legs move in unison with her arms, left then right, dirt clouds billowing from her steps. She continued down the winding path, descending farther and farther into the forest. Her mind was twisted and muddled with the thoughts of angst. Never did she want to see those two again.
James moved down the path slowly, arms hanging by his sides, no emotion his small steps. It was as if he were a doll, his body limp, his heart broken. He soon came across a split in the path, ‘a fork in the road’ as most would call it. He thought for a moment and turned down the right deviation. He moved slowly, eyes half-closed, back arched, body lowered. Then he heard a noise and a red flash lit up the slowly darkening area. It was Chimecho letting itself out of its pokéball. Chimecho hovered to James’s neck and wrapped its cloth-like body around him. He turned to Chimecho and looked away. Chimecho frowned, but stayed on his neck as they walked down the path, alone. Then they heard a noise, like crying, with short and quick gasps for air cutting the sobs off. A pain-like sensation was building up within the sobs. It sounded as if the thing was hurt. James quickened his pace and started for the sound. He scrambled down the dirt path, taking long strides to find the poor, helpless creature making the sound. He stopped when he saw the Pokémon heaped up on the ground, crying on the side of the path. He moved toward it, Chimecho detaching itself from his neck. He bent over and touched the poor thing. It looked up at him, its arm raised in defense. He saw a deep cut in its arm, blood slowly spilling from it. “You’re a Solshrub,” James said, taking its arm in his hands. “and you’re hurt.” He pulls out a piece of cloth from his pocket and wipes the blood from its green arm. It winces as he wipes all the crimson fluid from its arm. “It’ll be okay, Solshrub.” He looked over at Chimecho, who was hovering in the air, and commanded it to use Heal Bell. Chimecho floated over to the Solshrub and wrapped its cloth-like body around its arm, covering the open wound. A kind of chime came from Chimecho as it closed its eyes. Then it unwrapped itself from the Solshrub and the wound was gone. The Solshrub stared at its arm in astonishment. “You take care of yourself, now.” James said as he stood up, towering over the tiny green Pokémon. They exchanged gazes as James started back down the pathway, into the forest.
Jesse sat on a rock, as the last of the colors in the sky faded to black. Her Pokémon were out and resting with her, Woobuffet sitting next to her on the rock. Seviper was coiled up on the ground, asleep and Yanmega was perched in a tree, staring at the blackening sky. Jesse crossed her arms and buried her head into her lap. “We don’t need those fools.” She reminded herself. “We’re better off without them anyway.” She stood up after a moment and stood still on the pathway. She turned around and looked at her lazy Pokémon. She frowned. “Get off your lazy butts!” she screamed. Her Pokémon looked up at her and stayed awake, their eyelids heavy. “Jesse? Why’re you so mean?” a voice said sarcastically from behind her. She turned to see a rather thin man with a rag of golden hair falling onto his face. He wore a blue uniform, with matching blue pants a set of red pokéballs attached to his black belt. “Clyde.” Jesse sneered. “What do you want?” She looked at him, anger flaring in her eyes. “Oh, I can’t just stop by and say ‘hello’ to my dear ole friend, Jesse?” again, sarcasm was in his voice. “I know that’s not what you’re here for.” Jesse said to him, taking a step forward. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m just here for some Pokémon. The boss sent me here to find some. When I was walking down this path, I thought I recognized you.” He chuckled. “And then I was thinking: ‘why, isn’t that Jesse?’ And it turned out that it was you.” He took a step back, stepping into the bushes. “Jesse, no need to stand so close, I have a bubble you know.” He chuckled again. “Shut up,” Jesse said in a stage whisper. “Oh, where’s your team? Did they figure out that you were a loser and got fed up with you? How sad.” “Actually, quite the opposite,” She looked at him with a stern look. “I got fed up with them.” “That’s even worse.” His voice still carried the sense of sarcasm. “You’re a joke. I can take care of myself, my Pokémon are strong enough.” “Oh, speaking of which, would you care to partner up with me? It seems that I’m in great need of a teammate.” He frowned, his bottom lip rolling out. “Why would I do a crazy thing like that?” Jesse said, crossing her arms. “Well, for one, I’ve managed to get heaps of Pokémon for Giovanni. How many have you given to Giovanni?” Jesse stared back at him without saying a word. “Exactly my point.” He said. “Now for point two. I’ve also caught plenty of strong Pokémon who could wipe your Pokémon out in an instant.” “Prove it, then.” Jesse said. He gripped his belt and turned it so she could see the three pokéballs attached to it. He grasped one and pulled on it, pulling it from the belt and holding it in his hand. He pinched the pokéball with two fingers and it grew bigger, then he threw it to the ground. A large bug emerged from it, then he did the same to another pokéball and a large bird emerged. “An example would be these two, Stickwig,” he pointed to the large bug, “and Honchkrow.” He pointed to the large bird. “Oh, they do look strong.” She whispered under her breath. “So, will you take up my offer?” “Why, though?” “Because, with you and me on the same team; we’d be unstoppable.”
Meowth stirred in the underbrush. He moved around, angry about the prickling thorns. They kept scratching at him. Each time he tried to avoid one; he just stepped on a different one. It was like they were taking over the world! They were everywhere! He stepped over a thorn vine and onto the smooth soil. Then he heard a rustle in the bushes. He turned and saw a green figure appear. It was saying its name in a joyous tone: Solshrub. An apple in its left hand caught Meowth’s attention. “I’m hungry” He moved forward, licking his lips.
James clutched the handle of the Pokémon Centre and opened the door, stepping inside to feel the warmth welcoming him. He saw a woman standing behind the counter. She looked at him in fright and reached underneath the counter, gripping a wooden broom. He stepped back. “I mean no harm; I’m just here to stay for the night.” James said, waving his hands. “That’s not what I heard.” She tightened her grip on the broom. “What did you hear?” he asked, perplexed by the idea of her hitting him with the broom. “That you were coming to steal all of the Pokémon!” she shouted, her voice echoing in the lobby. James stepped forward and Nurse Joy stepped back. “Chansey,” she pleaded. A big pink Pokémon stepped into the lobby and looked at James. A red hue arrived at its face as it clenched its fists. “Get out, or I’ll call security.” “But—” “I mean it!” Nurse Joy stepped forward, raising the broom. “Alright, I’ll leave.” James said, stepping backwards through the door. He walked back to the path and continued walking through the night, Chimecho wrapped around his neck.
Meowth and Solshrub were sitting on the soft soil in a clearing. Bright pink flowers darted the brown dirt around them. Although they could barely see them, they were still pretty. A few apples were sitting in front of them, crimson red and bright green. Meowth and Solshrub were talking quietly as the dim light of the moon shone through the treetops and down on them. Solshrub was speaking of a kind blue-haired man who helped it just a few moments before they met up. He was saying that the man had a Chimecho and how the Chimecho healed him, for he had a cut on his arm and it hurt very much. Solshrub was saying how this man just left him there and that he wants to find him and thank him. This kind blue-haired man reminded Meowth of James. Then the memories of him and James flashed through his mind. He remembered how nice James was to him; how he never turned his back on him, and was always there for him. Solshrub made him want to find James too.
Jesse stood there with Clyde as they both leaned against the trees of the forest. Jesse had just agreed to team up with him and was wondering if she’d regret saying yes. “Battle me.” Clyde said, gripping his belt and turning to her. “What?” she asked in disbelief. “Battle me.” He repeated. “I want to see how strong your Pokémon are.” He unhooked one of his pokéballs from his belt and held it out. “Sure,” she said, gripping one of her pokéballs. “Double battle.” Clyde announced. “Fine, just don’t cry when I beat you.” Jesse said jokingly. Clyde threw his two pokéballs to the ground, releasing his Honchkrow and Stickwig. Honchkrow beat its wings against the air, lifting itself off the ground, as Stickwig scurried back and forth, ready to fight. Jesse hurled her two pokéballs and with a red flash her Yanmega and Seviper appeared. Seviper let out a long hiss as Yanmega beat its wings in unison to Honchkrow, a look of menace in its eyes. Then the battle began. Clyde commanded Honchkrow to attack Yanmega with wing attack and Stickwig to attack Seviper with razor leaf, the two Pokémon lashing forward with obedience. Honchkrow sped through the air toward Yanmega, readying its wing. Yanmega braced itself. Stickwig scurried toward Seviper, moving its legs profusely, lowering its head and pointing its horn. Seviper arched its body, ready to take the attack. Jesse told Yanmega to dodge the attack and counter with sonicboom, then told Seviper to block the attack with poison tail. Yanmega sped forward, darting around Honchkrow with high celerity. It swung its abdomen and a strong wind struck Honchkrow, sending it falling to the ground. Stickwig domed its back and ruffled its foliage, then shot a flurry of leaves at its opponent. Seviper’s tail glowed purple and with a swing, deflected the leaves. The green leaves fell to the ground, quickly turning brown as if the season altered in seconds. “Good move.” Clyde said, before he directed Honchkrow to use dark pulse on Yanmega. “Now, for me to get a move in.” Honchkrow flew up high and bent its head back, absorbing the darkness around it. It seemed as if the area was growing lighter. Dark particles surrounded Honchkrow, floating in the air, then, in seconds, a blast of energy was released from its beak and hit Yanmega square in the head. Yanmega shot backwards and hit a tree, falling to the ground, knocked out cold. A red graze could be seen where Yanmega was hit by the surge of energy. A red light surrounded the Pokémon and then it was gone. Jesse looked at Clyde in disgust as she ordered Seviper to attack Honchkrow with bite. Seviper bent back and pitched forward, fangs protruding from its inflamed mouth. Stickwig scurried furthered itself from the battle, trying to back out. “What’re you doing, you nasty beast?” Clyde shouted, Stickwig altered its direction and sped for the two colliding Pokémon. Seviper threw its head to the left, confusing Honchkrow and then clamped down on its leg. It pulled down and Honchkrow hit the earth, shrieking as pain shot through its body. Jesse smirked as Seviper continued its hold on Honchkrow, blood seeping through the edges of its mouth. Cries of help escaped Honchkrow, as it pleaded for the pain to stop in its bird tone. Clyde had no understanding of what the Pokémon was saying, but ironically, ordered Stickwig to do something. Stickwig scuttled over to the clashing Pokémon, readying its horn for piercing the flesh. Then it altered it speed, and flew across the ground, dirt clouds billowing from behind it as a large wind whipped up. A glint could be seen seconds before it pierced Seviper’s flesh. Seviper fell limp, trembling as it lay on the cold ground, crimson fluid spilling from its wound. Stickwig dragged its horn out of its victim and staggered back a bit. Seviper made a gentle hiss, as if begging for the battle to be through with. Two bloodied souls lying on the ground, one unconscious, the other, scared to continue, but still, the battle dragged on. Seviper whipped its tail in the air, as it glowed lilac and collided it with Stickwig’s horn, slicing it, blood oozing from the gash. Stickwig took a step back, regaining its equilibrium. Jesse commanded Seviper to slash again, and it did, this time, slicing Stickwig’s leaf from its back. Blood poured on the ground, as Stickwig dropped to the dirty earth. Then its body went loose at all joints, all muscles shut down, its eyes closed, as Stickwig fell unconscious. As Seviper turned in excitement to Jesse, a gust of wind lifted him from the ground and flung him into a tree. The now fragile snake looked up to see a large bird standing over him, the darkness shading it just right. The snake’s face dug into the ground as its body went limp. The battle was over. The field glowed red as the three Pokémon are returned to their pokéballs. “You have a lot of potential to be a good fighter Jesse, but you need to know when it’s over for your Pokémon. You needed help, so you called on Seviper. It helped you out all the while, but once it got to it needing your help, you just kept asking for more.” Jesse looked at her belt and smiled.
James walked down the path, bright luminescence shining down on him and Chimecho. Chimecho was wrapped around his neck still, trying to cheer him up with its constant rings. The bell-like Pokémon was still sad, for James was sad, and so it kept ringing, the chimes in its hollow head hitting against the inside, a soothing sound escaping it. Then there was a rustle in the bushes and Chimecho stopped and James stopped and they stared at the green foliage for a long time, until a cat and a green creature stepped from bushes and onto the pathway. They too stopped when they noticed James and Chimecho. Four smiles lit the faces of the groups. "James!" Meowth scampered over to his friend and leaped into his arms, his claws digging in deep into James's skin as he hugged him. James didn't mind, he was just happy to see his beloved companion. Then he noticed Solshrub, standing on the path, alone, staring back at James. It smiled when James noticed it and started waddling over to him. "Solshrub, you came too?" the creature nodded as it stretched out its arms for a hug. James held it as Meowth jumped down and the Solshrub smiled. But then something peculiar happened, it jumped from his arms and a look of anger appeared on its face. James pondered the fact that Solshrub looked mad and then a thought came to him. Solshrub wanted to battle. The Pokémon rolled its fingers into a fist and took a step back, strengthening its stance. James nodded as he reached for a pokéball, but Chimecho unwrapped its body and floated before him. Chimecho was ready to fight. The battle began. James had no time to think. Two tendrils lashed forward from Solshrub, whipping out at Chimecho, hitting it and sending it staggering back in the air. Chimecho let out a cry of pain, but shook the pain away as it floated toward the green creature. As James was about to say something, Chimecho let out a multicolored surge of energy from the chime within its head. It struck Solshrub dead on and sent it tumbling backward into the bushes. It returned moments later, ready for more. "Chimecho, you know psybeam?" the Pokémon danced in the air, answering him with its way of saying 'yes'. James nodded and the battle continued. Solshrub rolled to its left and a green ball started forming at its neck, as if electrical, it emitted a wave of heat, blurring the area around the ball. James stared in amazement. The ball was growing bigger and Chimecho was growing impatient. James commanded it to end the battle and Chimecho let out its multicolored surge once more, as Solshrub finished charging the green ball and let it loose. The ball was no match for the powerful surge. Solshrub lay on the ground, as it trembled to come to its feet. James clutched a pokéball and pulled it from his belt, it grew bigger as he pinched it, then he threw it, taking the chance to claim Solshrub as his own. The ball enveloped Solshrub in a red light and then the Pokémon disappeared into the tiny sphere. The ball fell to the ground rocking back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. James was growing tense as the ball continued to rock, then it stopped, and clicked. Solshrub was his. "Congrats to you, James." Meowth said, taking a step forward. "Now all we gotta do is find Jess, then everything'll end happily." James stared at Meowth. What if he didn't want to find Jesse? But he nodded anyway and they started down the pathway, together.
As the night grew darker, Jesse and Clyde concealed themselves in the bushes. They watched the Pokémon Centre as the doors opened and closed for trainers in need for a good night's rest. They were divising a scheme to take the many Pokémon within the large building. "But this never works." Jesse whispered. "Well, this time it will." Clyde added the finishing touches to his disguise and stood up, walking from the bushes. "Now, just wait for the signal." He made for the door in a run-walk sequence. Jesse sat in the thick foliage and waited for her chance to show him her skills. He opened the door in a hurry, racing inside and ringing the bell that lay on the front desk. A woman with pink hair stepped from a doorway with a look of alarm on her face. "There's a hurt Pokémon outside, it's so beat up. You've gotta help it Miss." he said with a sad tone deep within his voice. The woman ran out the door with a large pink creature right behind her. Clyde smirked, as the plan was going accordingly. Jesse saw the two figures move with haste, with their emergency kits in hand, and pink wear on. She lurked in the shadows, waiting for them to step closer. As they moved in the direction Clyde was pointing to, she readied the net in hand, the thin strands of wire glinting in the moonlight. She inched forward as the two figures neared, then, with a flick of the wrists, threw the net. The two figures fell to the earth, screaming. Jesse stepped from the bushes, looking at them for a moment, then running off toward the Centre. Once Jesse got inside, she made her way down a hall and into a dark room. She could see the outline of a figure toward the back of the room; it was holding a sack of some sort. Once she realized it was Clyde, she made her way toward him. The plan was going well. Very well.
James thought that Jesse might first go to the Pokémon Centre, maybe for rest, or even to steal all the Pokémon being held there. He didn’t know, he just wanted to find her. He stepped from the thicket of greens and onto the freshly cut grass of the Pokémon Centre. He started across the lawn, then stopped when he noticed a net containing two figures. “Your stupid friends are in there.” A voice said from the netting. “You might as well join them in their excursion of taking all of the helpless Pokémon.” She fell silent. James started for the door, ready to find Jesse. He made his way down a dark hall, Meowth trudging along right beside him. They soon came to a room, the only room in the hall. He looked at Meowth before stepping through the open doorway. It was dark. He felt along the wall for a switch, and soon found one, flipping it up and cutting on the lights, flooding the room with iridescence. He heard a pair of groans coming from the backside of the room, as if getting used to the light. He made his way toward the sound. Jesse stood there with a brown sack full of pokéballs. “Get outta here James.” Jesse said, continuing to stuff the bag with pokéballs. “James? Oh, it’s that loser?” He just noticed the other person, standing atop a crate. He remembered the face and thought. Then the name came to mind, it was Clyde. He ignored Clyde and turned back to Jesse. “Me and Meowth just want to get the team back together. We’re sorry, and will do better.” “I’ve already said yes to Clyde, sorry.” “Clyde? If I don’t know better myself, Clyde’s probably just using you.” Clyde stopped for a moment and then continued stuffing the brown sack with pokéballs. “He’s not using me, right, Clyde?” Clyde said nothing. “Right, Clyde?” Her voice grew louder. Clyde added the last ball to his bag, then swung it over his shoulder, leaping from the crate. He made into a mad dash for the door, not looking back, not once. “Nobody uses me. Especially not a—” She stopped in mid-sentence as she ran out the door and started down the hallway, dropping the sack full of pokéballs.
Clyde beat his feet against the ground rapidly as he raced toward the forest ahead. A brown sack was flung over his shoulder, and his back was arched a bit, supporting the heavy sack. He ran passed the netted figures, as they shouted for him to stop, but he ignored them, continuing toward the forest. Then his name was called out and he looked up to see where it was coming from. The roof. Two silhouettes were standing on the roof, hands on hips, chests stuck out, in triumph. They began to chant:
Prepare from trouble ‘Cause it’s gonna come To re-unite out team Is what we’ve done To denounce the evils of truth and love To extend our reach to the stars above Jesse, James, Meowth’s the name You’re going nowhere with the lute Just out of here with a boot
They both jumped down in unison, followed by a smaller figure who was in the shape of a cat. “So, you’ve teamed back up with those losers?” Clyde asked in disbelief. “You’re so much better than them.” “Shut it, Clyde. You won’t get away with this.” “Oh, I won’t?” “No.” Jesse clutched her pokéball. Clyde clutched his. “Get ready then, little Jess.” He pulled the two from his belt and threw them into the air, a large insect and a large bird emerging from the two balls. Jesse threw her pokéball to the ground and Seviper slithered on out, hissing in anger. “You’re not doing this alone,” James said in a stage-whisper. Solshrub was now on the battle field, as well as Chimecho. Jesse smiled. The battle began. Stickwig arched its back and a flurry of leaves sliced through the air, slashing at Chimecho and Solshrub, while Honchkrow lifted itself into the air and beat its wings powerfully, a gust a wind whipping up. Solshrub and Chimecho both pitched backwards from the impact, regaining their balance and readying themselves for battle. Seviper darted to the right of the strong wind and lashed its purple-glowing tail forward, slashing Honchkrow. Blood spilled from the injured wing. The bleeding Solshrub tensed its body and a green ball started charging at its neck. The bloodied Chimecho floated in the air, ready to take orders from James. Seviper lurched its head forward, fangs almost biting into Honchkrow, but the large bird jumped back, slapping the snake with its wing. Seviper rolled on the ground, then slinked into battle position, ready to attack. The ball at Solshrub’s neck was almost done charging. Stickwig was scurrying on the ground, forgotten. Then buried under the rich soil and disappeared. Chimecho took notice to this and watched the ground intently readying its cloth-like structure. Mud splattered across the ground as the large insect exhumed itself. Chimecho lashed its cloth out and wrapped itself around the Stickwig’s leg, tightening itself like a boa. The green ball was finished charging and collided with Stickwig, Chimecho detaching itself from it, as it tumbled into Honchkrow and they both hit Clyde. Then a multicolored surge escaped the chime within Chimecho’s head and struck the three, sending them crashing into the forest, strands of smoke billowing in the air from the impact zone. The battle was over.
“Thank you ever so much.” The Nurse said, handing James a package from across the counter. “This is our thanks to Team Rocket for helping us. Again, we thank you. You must not be bad after all.” James took the package and said his thanks and your welcome, then the three of them walked out the Centre door and started down the pathway. The team was back together; a happy ending. They walked down the dirt pathway under the bright moon, looming overhead.

Road To Rikoto!
Cole moved along the dirt path, excitement spreading through his body. A smile arrived at his face not too long ago, when he was told that he could get his first Pokémon and start his journey. He’d seen a show on TV about Pokémon. They were beautiful. Each one had its own unique personality and look. He wanted to be a Pokémon trainer ever since. He moved over the hilltop and looked down at the quiet town of Soltree. Small box houses lined the streets with green fields of grass running out front, flowers growing spontaneously about. His smile grew as he trembled with excitement. He was about to get his first Pokémon.
Ash gazed at the forthcoming town, a small yellow creature on the rail in front of him. His red hat was tight on his head, pulled over his ears and covering most of his coarse black hair. “We’re almost there, Pikachu,” he said to the yellow creature on the rail “the Rikoto region.” The Pikachu makes a squeal and leaps to his shoulder, leaning out a bit to get a better view of the town. As the boat moved toward the dock, a pink-haired woman, and a blue haired man were packed away in a wooden crate with their cat companion, a Meowth. The pink-haired woman spoke in a stage whisper. “Meowth, get your tail out of my face.” “I could, if James get’s his foot off my leg.” He barked back. All James could do was mumble muffled words, for a foot was on his mouth and a hand was on his throat. Jesse moved her foot and shifted right, Meowth’s tail sliding off her face. Meowth moved his hand from James’s neck and tucked it under his arm. “We couldn’t have done this hours ago?” James said in short, quick breaths. Meowth and Jesse snarled at him. Then, with no warning, a bright red light flashed from Jesse’s belt and a blue creature emerged. The sound of splintering wood shot from the crate and the three smiled, and then frowned as they saw a plank of wood fall into the ocean. They shared worried glances, as the crate burst open and they fell from the boat. Jesse clutched the rail and James grasped her ankle. Meowth dug his claws into James’s back and he shouted in pain. They were dangling for their lives. Woobuffet rested safely on the stack of crates, watching them struggle. “Woobuffet, you stupid Pokémon, help us!” Woobuffet scowled and refused, crossing his arms. “Let me try, Jesse.” James said. She looked mad. “Woobuffet, I know deep down, in that beautiful heart of yours, you’re a kind and gentle creature,” Woobuffet uncrossed his arms and looked down at James. It seemed as though he was listening. “I will make sure Jesse is as kind to you as the air you breathe if you help us up.” Jesse’s hand was slipping. “Now!” Woobuffet reached his hand out for Jesse and she latched onto him, and with one great pull, the three of them were sent tumbling down the stack of crates. “That made no sense, James.” Meowth said. “It worked, didn’t it?”
Ash moved down the steel framed ramp and onto the dirt road of Soltree. Pikachu stood on her hind legs and gazed at the beauty surrounding them. Soltree wasn’t your average town. Tall trees towered high above the houses, flowers overflowed from the earth in multiple hues, complimenting the town’s aura. It was quiet, not too busy, easy flowing. Ash started down the road, Pikachu right behind him, smiling. A black jeep pulled up next to him, startling Ash. A young man with glasses sat in the driver’s seat. “Need a ride?” The only thought that went through Ash’s head was: don’t talk to strangers. “Oh, forgive me for not introducing myself, I’m Jeffery.” Ash still had the troubled look on his face. “I work for Professor Pine? You haven’t been contacted, have you?” Ash shook his head. “He sent me to pick you up, something about Professor Oak sending you here.” “I can walk, it’s just up the—” Two figures were moving his way; one with long pink hair, the other with short blue hair. “Actually, I think I will take the offer.” He quickly threw his backpack in the trunk and hopped into the passenger’s seat. The car sped down the road, whipping up a cloud of dust as they rounded the corner. “We will get that Pikachu! Mark my words, twerp!” Jesse yelled.
Cole arrived at the Lab in minutes of reaching the serene town. The Lab was a metal structure, two stories tall, with a dome roof, giving it the appearance of three stories tall. A fenced in field was to the left, containing four Miltank and two Snuffuzz. He moved toward the double door and was surprised to see that it was automatic. He stepped inside as the door shot close. It was dark inside; no trace of anyone was there. A wooden counter was off to the left of the entrance and a winding staircase to the right. A small pond was positioned underneath the staircase with clusters of lily pads spread across the surface. Cattails lined the rim of the pond, drooping down. Cole leaned over the blue water. Nothing broke the surface. Then he noticed at the far end of the pond, a grey flap in the wall about two yards long. It wasn’t transparent, so he couldn’t see through to the other side. A piece of land was wrapped around the edge of the pond, patches of grass scattered about. He left the pond and continued searching for someone. “Hello?” He called over and over again, his voice echoing through the halls. Then the sound of people talking off in the distance lingered in the air. He turned to see two men walking his way. The one on the left was dressed in khaki pants and a purple flannel, sheathed in a lab coat. The one on the right was a rather old man, white tufts of hair atop his head. He too wore a white lab coat. “Hello, and who are you?” said the old man “I’m Cole. I’m here for a Pokémon.” Cole fixed his black beanie, so the white half-pokéball was facing straight. “I can see that. Do you know your choices yet, young man?” the old man said, bending down to look Cole in the eyes. “Actually…no, I don’t know the choices. Can I see them?” “Well sure you can see them. Now what type of business would we be if you couldn’t see the Pokémon?” He turned around and started back down the hallway. ”Right this way.” Cole followed him back toward the pond. He still saw no break in the surface. The old man opened a door to the right of the pond and went through, so did the other man. Cole followed. His heart leaped when he stepped inside. It was like a large terrarium! Tropical plants were scattered about. A small waterfall flowed out from a large hole in the wall. It cascaded into a large lake in the center of the room. The water flowed throughout the room like a river and into another hole in the wall. It must’ve led to the pond. Small creatures roamed the room. Birds, reptiles, mammalians, fish, amphibians! A Paracaw flew overhead, landing on a thick tree at the far end of the room. Its plumage was red and white, and yellow and blue in a few places. It had a black beak and a large white feather looming over its head. A couple of Stickit meandered down a far pathway, the two leaves on their heads, swaying as they moved. Wurmple crawled up trees, leaving a trail of goo behind. Beautifly danced in the air, sparkling dust lingering in the air. Wooper and Quagsire played in the water, blue spray flying from the splashes. Zigzagoon wrestled in the bushes, uprooting plants as they roughhoused. Cole followed the old man to a corner, where three Pokémon were eating. “Here are your choices: Herovor, Salatad, and Purrlit.” His hand was outstretched and pointing to them each. “Enjoy.” He walked off, toward the door, closing it as he exited. “This is gonna be hard.”
Ash watched as the beautiful scenery of Soltree sped by in a blur. His hair waved in the breeze as the car drove down the road. Jeffery looked over at him and Pikachu. “Hey, Ash.” “Yeah?” he said, turning to Jeffery. “Do you know the legend of Rikoto?” Ash didn’t answer. He didn’t. Was he supposed to? “Well then, I’ll tell you.” He cleared his throat. “Long ago, there was an ancient Pokémon with the name, Cellance. Cellance was a deity of Light and Darkness. It was known as the balance Pokémon, for it controlled the balance of nature. You could even say the universe. This Cellance found it difficult to balance the world, so he created two other creatures, Solaran and Lunaro. Neither one of these creations could exist without the other. If Solaran perished, so did the other; vice versa. After the creation of Solaran and Lunaro, those two merged power to create the elemental protectors. These five Pokémon protect at all cost, their element, Fire, Water, Earth, Air or Spirit. The five protectors were scattered across the world, and over time moved toward Rikoto. Some say this region is the heart of the world. Others say it’s not. Who knows?” They continue down the road, the cool breeze, running through Ash’s black hair.
Cole stared at the three Pokémon. They stared at him, smiles on their faces. He thought it out. Which to choose? The Herovor was a grass type, later becoming a grass-rock dual type. It was a small green reptilian with a brown shell. Four bright green leaves stuck out from the rocks on its shell. The Purrlit was a fire type cat; it would later become a fire-ground dual type. With a flame at the tip of its tail and a red ring around its neck, it seemed as though it had the playful aspect. It was skipping around as Cole watched it, deep in thought. He shifted his gaze over to Salatad, the nearest to the water; that spelled out water type. He knew that it would later grow into a strong water-poison dual type. It was blue, a fin at its rear. A group of Butterfree flew by, flapping their opaque wings gently. Cole saw that they were flying toward a large gap in the ceiling, it seemed as though it was for the flying Pokémon to go in and out freely. The group caught Herovor’s attention and he started toward the open gap. He hopped onto a stone and into a nearby tree, crawling toward the hole in the roof. “Herovor, come back!” Cole shouted, running toward the tree. Herovor disappeared over the roof’s edge. “No!” Cole shrieks, climbing the tree and crossing the frail branch. He reaches the edge of the roof and looks down, to see Herovor racing off into the forest; he sighs in relief and climbs over the edge. There was a long net that drooped down from the roof to the ground. Before he went, he turned to the two remaining starters. “Stay here.” The two Pokémon shared a glance. Once Cole disappeared over the edge, the two Pokémon started toward the hole in the ceiling, ready to play.
A black jeep pulled into the dirt driveway of the Lab, the thick dust, falling to the ground. Ash and Jeffery got out of the jeep and started for the large, automatic door. Before they reach it, the two doors slide open and reveal an old man sheathed in a white lab coat. “Welcome, Ash; Jeffery.” Ash said nothing. “I’m Professor Pinewood.” He looked startled that Ash didn’t know him. “Oh, right. Jeffery told me about you.” He stuck out his hand. “Nice to meet you.” They shook hands and walked inside.
Cole searched the underbrush chaotically. He shook trees and rummaged through bushes, but there was no sign of Herovor. “Herovor, where are you?” he shouted, his voice echoing in the distance, ricocheting through the mountainous forests. He moved with purpose, starting at a walk and working his way up to a jog. Minutes later, he was running, the fallen leaves crackling underfoot. He continued calling for Herovor, despite the fact that there was no answer. Pretty soon he stopped for a rest, sinking down under a tree. Then there was a rustle in the bushes. “Herovor!” he leaned forward in anticipation. But all that answered him was the voice of Salatad and Purrlit, crooning in harmony. He leaned back. “You two?” they showed a face of sadness. “I’m sorry; it’s just that, Professor Pinewood isn’t gonna be happy when he finds out that—” the sound of Herovor interrupted him. He turned in the direction of the sound. “Let’s go!” Cole jumped up and shot through the forest toward the sound of Herovor. Herovor was in sight, curled up on the ground, crying and trembling in fear. “Herovor, what’s wrong…” then he notices the herd of Spinarak and Ariados, crawling toward them from all directions. The three Pokémon cowered behind Cole’s legs, frightened of the large insects moving toward them. The lead Ariados hissed in anger. It must’ve meant for Cole to move. With that, he spoke. “No, I won’t let you have them!” The Ariados hissed again, and Cole resisted the urge to run away. “I said no!” then the large spider crept forward until it was within reaching distance. Cole stood there, terrified beyond belief. The urge to leave the three Pokémon in the insect’s possession was growing stronger. The Ariados held back no longer. Milky white webbing shot forward at Cole and enveloped him, pinning him to the ground. The three helpless Pokémon cowered still behind Cole. The Ariados changed its target. It reached its leg out, but had no chance to slice open its prey. A flame flew through the air and hit the Ariados square in the head. The large insect recoiled, stumbling backwards into a large boulder. Cole looked up to see Purrlit standing in front of him, tail raised, flame burning strong. A fierce purr gushed up its throat and let loose, booming through the forest. It took a step forward and let out another fierce purr. The Ariados didn’t budge, it just stared in disbelief. Purrlit let out another fiery hot blast from its mouth, this time, it was larger. It struck the Ariados’s leg and lacerated it, making the Ariados fall face first into the dirt. The many Spinarak raced toward the injured Ariados and carried it off into the forest. Cole and the three Pokémon stared in the direction of the fleeing bugs for a while, ready for if they returned. Once they were sure the Pokémon were gone, Purrlit turned to Cole and checked to see if he was okay, whimpering as though it cared for him. It sliced the webbing with its claws, retracting them back into its small paws. Cole crawled from within the web and looked Purrlit in the eyes. “Thanks,” was all he could say.
Ash leaned on the wooden counter, waiting for the professor to return. The man came through the door with a brown package in hand. He placed it down in front of Ash and told him to open it. Ash did. He unwound the brown string wrapped around the box and tore the cardboard apart. His face brightened as he saw what was waiting for him: a brand new Pokédex. Instead of just the basic red, it was black too. A thick black stripe ran up the side of it and down the back and a blue light shone with bright luminescence in the top right-hand corner. When he opened the Pokédex, a voice clicked on and said “Hello.” Ash whispered ‘hello’ back and shut the lid, sticking the Pokédex in his jean pocket. “Thanks.” He said to the professor. “It has all the basic information you need on every Pokémon in the world and more. It acts as a compass and contains a map on its memory. So there’s no need in getting lost now.” The professor chuckled. The sound of the automatic door was heard as Cole stepped inside. He paused when he saw Ash. A new face? Too many in one day. He walked over to the professor, Purrlit at his side, Herovor and Salatad behind him. “I made my choice. I’ll take Purrlit.” Purrlit looked up at him and purred, rubbing its head on his leg. Cole smiled. Then the professor leaned back and grabbed a small backpack, handing it to Cole. “It contains all the basic necessities for your journey with you Pokémon. I hope you have a grand time, and hope to hear from you again soon.” Cole peered into the backpack and saw a Pokédex and five pokéballs stuffed away at the bottom. Purrlit’s was at the top. “I’m surprised Purrlit agrees to go with you.” The professor said. “Why’s that?” “Well, it takes a lot of trust for that Pokémon there to say yes. We’ve had this little rascal for almost two years now. We’ve only had Herovor and Salatad for a couple of months. Every time someone wants him, he refuses. But now…”the professor looked down at the fiery cat. “Now he’s actually going to leave.” Then a crash was heard outside. Everyone looked in the direction of the door and then started for it, wondering what was happening. They gathered outside and looked around for the location the noise came from. Then out of nowhere, a large robotic structure cavorted from the forest and onto the large field. It stopped at the middle and a platform rose from the front of it, revealing two figures and a cat: Jesse, James, and Meowth. “Team Rocket!” Ash cried. Pikachu grumbled under her breath, anger written on her face. She leaped down from Ash’s shoulder and on the ground in front of him. “Who’re they?” Cole asked, stepping beside them. “Thieves! They’ve been stealing Pokémon for a living and bringing them back to their boss. At least that’s what they’re trying to do. They’ve been following me for almost three years now, trying to take Pikachu from me, and they won’t take her today.” Herovor, Salatad, and Purrlit lined up by Pikachu and let out deep growls. Sparks were flying from Pikachu’s red spots, jumping in the air. She crouched low to the ground as Team Rocket pressed a button on a steel box. A metal hand shot from the robot’s body and clutched the four Pokémon, pulling them back and holding them high in the air, far out of reach. Team Rocket started to chant: Prepare for trouble, and make it double, here to steal the your Pokémon, It’s good for us, Wrong for you, To divide the Pokémon from all trainers And get rich fast in days to come Jesse, James, Meowth’s the name Team rocket, not blasting off again, We will win in the end
“Leave me alone!” Ash shouted, his voice booming in the air. “Give me back, Purrlit!” Cole shouted. Jesse sneered. James laughed, saying “We got Pikachu! And you can’t get him back!” The platform lowered back into the robot as the group of people watched the struggling Pokémon in horror. Ash stares up at Pikachu, unable to do a thing but worry. He could hear the shouts of Cole as he yelled for Purrlit. Ash saw continuously Pikachu try to escape the large robotic hand, but fail. Pikachu shocked the hand with a bolt of electricity, but it failed. “Haven’t you learned already?” Meowth snickered. “We design the robots nowadays to withstand your stupid electric shocks. There’s no escaping this time bozo. That goes for you guys too, it’s fire proof, water proof, grass proof, nothing can penetrate this baby!” “But is it rock proof!” Jeffery grasped a pokéball and through it to the ground, a bright red light flashing at the ground. A Pokémon emerged and readied itself for battle. “Let’s go, Roxirox, show ‘em what you’ve got.” The Pokémon stood there, ready for orders, rock-plated head and all. “Rollout!” the Roxirox lurched backward and formed into a ball, then lurched forward, rolling toward the hulking robot. “That puny thing, what’s it gonna do? Nothing!” The Roxirox turned around, gaining speed. It started for us and in feet, turned around again, heading back toward the robot. Turf was being torn from the ground as it continued to roll and gain speed; then a head on collision with the robot, leaving a deep dent in the leg. It turned around, coming back for more. It bashed at the leg again, leaving another dent. Roxirox rolled backwards as Jesse through a pokéball to the ground, letting loose a snake-like creature. “Seviper, use poison tail!” The Seviper’s tail glowed purple as it slithered forward toward the rolling Pokémon. It slashed at it, but the Pokémon didn’t stop. It jumped up and Jeffery ordered it again. Roxirox lurched at the Seviper, head on, its head colliding with the snake’s head. The snake sank to the ground, unconscious. It glowed with a red light and then disappeared. “Let me try!” James threw a ball and an overgrown plant emerged, fangs protruding from its mouth. “Carnivine, use vine whip!” a red vine lashed out at Roxirox, slashing it in the face and thrashed at it until it too was unconscious. It disappeared into Jeffery’s ball. Ash stared at the creature before them, as it swayed back and forth, then he had an idea. “Purrlit, listen to me!” he caught its attention. “Use ember on the glass.” A look of distraught appeared on its face, but it followed directions and let loose a flame. “Now Salatad, use water gun in the same spot!” it puffed its cheeks up and sprayed a jet of water at the glass in front of it. “Pikachu and Herovor, you two, use iron tail and tackle on the spot with full power!” They jerked forward and pounded at the glass. A crack appeared. “Do it again!” they did, this time, the glass shattering and the four Pokémon falling from the glass container in the robotic hand. Ash ran forward and caught Pikachu, smiling. Cole reached up and grasped his newly given Purrlit. Jeffery and Professor Pinewood caught Salatad and Herovor. “Now Pikachu, let’s finish this! Use thunder!” Pikachu sank into itself and found the power it needed, letting out a shriek as a surge of electricity shot from her and hit Team Rocket. The robot exploded, debris flying through the air. The three thieves flew through the air and out of sight. “A new region, but the same ole sendoff.” James retorted as they flew through the air. “Shut it.” Jesse said. “Well, we should say it anyway.” Meowth added. “We’re blasting off again.” The three of them sang as they flew off into the distance. Down on the ground, the group was rejoicing. Cole held Purrlit to his chest, happy that he’d returned without harm. Jeffery stared at his pokéball, telling his Roxirox what a great job he did. Ash was petting Pikachu and Pikachu was purring, glad to be back in Ash’s care. The professor made sure that Salatad and Herovor got just as much attention, patting them on their heads and telling them “Well done.” “Thanks Ash, for saving Purrlit like that. If only I could’ve done something…” “Hey, don’t beat yourself up.” “Okay. I hope to be like you someday, you’re so experienced, you knew just what to do!” Cole was trembling with excitement. “Well, I have learned a bit from travelling so much. You pick some stuff up every once and awhile.” Cole stared at Ash in a awe, then spoke: “If it’s okay with you, could I maybe join you this time around?” “Sure, the more the merrier,” he said. “Tell me when you’re ready to leave.” “Thanks.” Cole turned and went inside, grabbing his backpack and Purrlit’s pokéball, then racing back out the door. “By the way Professor Pinewood, I never said thanks for letting me have Purrlit.” He looked down at the petite cat, flame burning strong, smile growing larger. “Thanks.” Cole ran over to Ash and they both waved good bye in unison to the two researchers. They started for the dirt pathway, winding through the forest as the setting sun painted the sky with pinks and oranges.
