I won the badge after my second gym battle with Donna and I found out that I could get the move "Cut" from Donna's dad, so I interacted with him, but he only gives me tips about fighting against poison type

Is it possible to edit my save file to have that move? I don't like to cheat but now I just can't progress in the game.
