Battle Bug? Please Help (497 views)

Just started to game an hour ago and after I defeated the rival for the first time I left for the first route. Now whenever I encounter a wild pokemon a second window pops up with nothing in it, but my game bgm is suddenly muted for the entire fight. I can hear cries, and attack sounds but no bgm. I looked if they are checked by pressing F1 and they are, after I finish the battle the second window disappears again and the bgm starts working again up until the next random encounter. 

Please Help. I tried to find answers online but havent found a thread with this particular problem. thank you!
