On their way to Rustbolt City the group are walking along a dirt path sluggishly, “It’s so hot!” Cole says flapping his beanie around trying to create some wind, “It feels like the further we go, the hotter is gets!” Ella says as Tweetot sits on her head flapping its wings trying to cool her down.
Ash walks out in front flapping his hat in front of his face as Pikachu hangs from his shoulder, Brock walks behind the group reading a map, “I think I know why its getting hotter as we go on” he says, they all stop and look at the map and notice a big yellow circle not far from where they are, “There’s a big desert not too far from Rustbolt City and since we’re getting closer to Rustbolt, the hotter its gonna get” he says, “A desert, do we have to pass through it?” Ash asks, “Well it is the quickest way to get to Goldune City, which is the next place with a Gym after Rustbolt” Brock says, “Well I guess we’ll have to go through the desert” Ash says, “Aww its so hot now, can we take a break?” Cole says,
“Well it looks like there is a small lake up ahead so we can take a break there” Brock says, “A lake!” Cole, Ash and Ella shout, “We can go swimming!” they all say, and the rush to the lake.
Meanwhile Team Rocket is also suffering from the heat, and are relaxing under a big tree in the shade.
“Ahh…” Jesse, James and Meowth all say as Lophug waves leafs around with its ears,
“At least Solshrub is enjoying the sun” James says as Solshrub lays out in the sun soaking in the rays,
“I can’t be bothered going after the twerps today” Jesse says, “I agree” Meowth says, “I’d much rather relax under this tree” James says, and they all let out a big sigh in relaxation.
The group arrive at the lake to see a picnic table and a little dock, Ash and Cole dash off into the bushes and jump out wearing their swim shorts, “Swim time!” they both say, Ash lets Mawclaw and Herovor out of their pokeballs, and Cole lets out Purrlit, Toron and Wooper Ash, Cole Pikachu and Wooper all jump into the water, “Ahh that feels so good!” Ash and Cole say as the float on the surface of the water,
Ella and Brock sit at the picnic table and let out Sudowoodo, Moonky, Pruddy and Lavenseed,
“I’ll get started on lunch” Brock says, “I’ll help you” Ella says and they get started.
Purrlit and Pruddy play on the grass with a ball, Moonky swings around on the trees, Sudowoodo helps Brock and Ella, as Tweetot flutters around in the sky trying to follow Mawclaw, Lavenseed and Herovor are soaking up the sunlight, and Toron sleeps in the shade,
“Looks like Herovor and Lavenseed are loving the sun” Ella says, “Well that’s cause they are grass types, and grass types love the sunlight” Brock says,
Ash and Cole are splashing each other with water while Wooper squirts water at Pikachu, “Hey Ash I know, lets have a race!” Cole says, “A race, okay then!” Ash says, “Okay see those weeds sticking out of the water up there” Cole says pointing over to a bunch of weeds and lilypad’s sticking out of the water, “The first one there wins!” Cole says, “Okay!” Ash replies, “Ready, steady…GO!” Cole says and the two start swimming, Pikachu and Wooper follow behind, Ash gets out in front and Cole starts lagging behind, Ash reaches the weeds and jumps out of the water, “Yeah I won!” He says, as he falls back into the water he creates a wave that knocks into the lilypad’s, and on one of the lilypad’s was a small blue pokemon sleeping, and Ash wakes it up, Cole reaches Ash and sees the Salatad behind him, “Ah Ash I think you woke up that Salatad” Cole says, Ash turns around to see Salatad looking at him angrily “Oh I’m sorry Salatad, I didn’t mean to wake you up” he says, Salatad doesn’t listen and its tail starts glowing purple, and it jumps at Ash slapping him in the face, the Salatad falls into the water and swims away Ash falls into the water “Ouch…” he mutters, moments later Cole is helping Ash out of the water and back onto the land, “What happened?” Ella asks, “There was a Salatad, Ash woke it up and it slapped him with a Poison Tail attack” Cole says, “Are you okay Ash?” Brock asks,
“Yeah I’m fine, my face is just a little numb” he says, “Well that should ware off” Brock says, “Anyway lunch is ready” he says.
A while later the group have finished eating and are now relaxing, “That was a great lunch” Cole says with a big stomach, as Wooper lays on the ground with a big stomach too,
And the group laugh, just then someone arrives at the lake, they look up to see a familiar face, Paul,
“Hey its Paul” Ash says, Paul looks up to see the group all sitting at the picnic table,
Ash gets up and walks up to Paul, “Hey Paul its great to see you” He says, Paul just looks at him, “So what are you doing here?” Ash asks, “I heard there are Salatad at this lake, and I wanted to catch one” he says,
“Salatad?” Ash says, “I saw a Salatad and it slapped me in the face” Ash says, “Well then I guess coming here wasn’t a waste” Paul says, Ash notices Paul holding a fishing rod, “So your gonna try and catch it using a fishing rod?” Ash says, “Well that is how you tend to catch water pokemon” Paul says smartly,
He then walks away and sets up on the side of the lake,
“So Paul wants to catch a Salatad?” Ella says, “Looks like it” Ash says.
A while passes and the group sit at the picnic table watching Paul fish, “It’s been ages” Cole says, “And he hasn’t caught a thing”, just then Paul’s line starts being tugged on, “Spoke too soon Cole!” Ash says, Paul starts pulling the fishing pole trying to pull the pokemon in, he pulls and pulls and with a big tug the pokemon comes flying out of the water and lands on the ground, they look at the pokemon and they know what it is, “That’s a Totodile!” Ash shouts, Paul pulls his pokedex out of his pocket and scans the Totodile,
Totodile appears on the screen and he reads the writing, “This Totodile knows a few strong attacks” Paul says, Totodile looks at him, Paul throws out a pokeball and Nimblow comes out, “Nimblow Thunderbolt” Paul calls out, Nimblow flies up into the air and shocks Totodile with its Thunderbolt, Totodile is shocked and falls to the ground, Paul pulls out another Pokeball and throws it at Totodile, Totodile gets sucked into the pokeball and the ball falls to the ground, it rocks back and forth and then stops, “Wow, Paul caught that Totodile with one attack” Ash say, “His Nimblow looks a lot stronger than the last time we saw it” Ella says, Paul returns Nimblow back to its pokeball and he gets fishing again, “Wow he just caught a Totodile and now he’s going back for Salatad” Brock says, and the group keep watching.
Moments pass until Paul gets another bite, he pulls it up with a big tug and a Magikarp comes up and lands on the ground and starts flopping around, “Useless” he says and the Magikarp flops back into the water,
“I guess he really wants that Salatad” Cole says, “Looks like it” Ash says.
Paul keeps going on with his fishing while the group play with their pokemon, Paul gets another bite, he pulls and pulls but the pokemon is too strong, Tyrogue comes out of his Pokeball and starts pulling on the fishing rod too, “Wow whatever it is must be strong!” Ella says, “I wonder what it is!” Ash says, Paul and Tyrogue pull and pull Paul calls out to Tyrogue to use Bulk Up, Tyrogue does so and its attack raises, allowing them to pull the pokemon out of the water, with a big splash Salatad is on the line,
“SALATAD!” the group shout, and Salatad lands on the ground, “Whoa that Salatad must be strong if it took Paul and Tyrogue just to pull it up” Brock says,
The Salatad stands its ground looking at Paul, it hears the group talking and turns around and sees Ash, and Ash looks at it, “Hey that’s the Salatad that slapped me!” Ash shouts, “Salatad I want to battle you” Paul says to Salatad, Salatad looks at him and nods, “Tyrogue” Paul says to Tyrogue standing by his side, Tyrogue nods and steps forward, “Go Tyrogue, Focus Punch!” Paul shouts, Tyrogue charges up to Salatad with its fist glowing, it swings its fist at Salatad, but Salatad jumps out of the way with speed, “Whoa that was fast” Cole says, “It sure was, Salatad dodged that attack like it was nothing” Ash say,
Paul looks at Salatad and smiles a little, “Tyrogue Ice Punch!” Paul shouts, Tyrogue runs up to Salatad again and goes to swing at it, Salatad dodges it again, and this time attacks it with a Water Gun, Tyrogue goes flying across the ground, Salatad goes in for the finish and uses Aqua Jet on Tyrogue, Tyrogue gets hit again and this time it gets knocked out, “Ah Tyrogue” Paul says as Tyrogue lands before him, Paul takes out a pokeball and returns Tyrogue, “I guess its over” Cole says, “I don’t think it is Cole” Brock says, they look to see Salatad standing there still ready to battle, “Again?” Paul asks, and Salatad nods, “Fine” he says, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out another pokeball, and enlarges it, “Go Nimblow!” Paul shouts as Nimblow emerges out of the light, “Nimblow Thunderbolt!” Paul shouts, Nimblow charges up and releases a bolt of lightning at Salatad, Salatad dodges the attack, “Whoa it dodged the attack again” Ella says, as the group watch in amazement, “Nimblow Blizzard, now!” Paul shouts, Nimblow puffs up and then releases a giant storm of ice at Salatad, Salatad just stands there right in the direction of the Blizzard, just as the attack is about to hit, Salatad reflects the attack using a Poison Tail attack, “WHAT!” Paul shouts, Salatad then uses Aqua Jet to make itself fly into the air to where Nimblow is, it then uses Poison Tail again and hits Nimblow making it fall, Salatad then uses Water Gun on it as it falls making it crash down to the ground, “Whoa!” the group all say as Nimblow hits the ground knocked out, “…How…” Paul says, he then returns Nimblow to its Pokeball, “That Salatad is so strong” Paul says to himself as the group stare in wonder, Ash steps forward clutching his fist, “Salatad I want to battle you!” he says, “What?” Ella, Cole and Brock all say, Salatad looks at him for a second but then turns around and jumps into the water and swims away, “What…” Ash says, “I guess is doesn’t want to battle anymore” Ella says, Paul picks up his bag and fishing rod, “I’m outta here” he says, “Wait Paul, where are you going now?” Ash says, “I’m going to Rustbolt City, I’m going to the gym, not that it’s any of your business” Paul says, walking away,
“Oh…Okay then, maybe we’ll see you there” Ash says, “Whatever” Paul says.
“Well, that was a sight” Brock says, “Sure was” Ella says, “That Salatad was awesome” Cole says, “It dodged all of Paul’s Pokemon attacks, and took them down with only a couple of hits” he says.
“Well I guess we should get going, Rustbolt City is just over the hill, so we better go before it gets dark” Brock says, “Lets go” Ash says, the group pack up and return their pokemon back into their Pokeballs.
The group make their way down the path alongside the lake, as they walk along, Salatad jumps out in front of them, “Oh Salatad” Ash says, “Do you want something?” he asks it, Salatad looks at Ash, and gets into a battle pose, “I think it wants to battle you now” Brock says, “Battle?, so you want to battle me now Salatad?” Ash asks it and it nods, “Okay then” Ash says, Salatad gets ready and Ash gets ready, “Pikachu I think you should have this battle” Ash says to Pikachu on his shoulder, Pikachu nods and jumps onto the ground, “Okay Pikachu lets go, Quick Attack!” Ash shouts out, Pikachu runs up to Salatad in a flash of light and goes to tackle it, but again Salatad jumps out of the way, “It’s still dodging attacks Ash, you gotta think of another way” Ella says, “Another way…” Ash says to himself, he then remembers how Salatad waited until the attack is about to hit when it jumps out of the way, “Okay I’ve got it now” Ash says, “Pikachu Quick Attack again!” Ash shouts, Pikachu runs back up to Salatad and goes in for the attack, just as Pikachu goes to hit, Salatad jumps over it, “Now Pikachu Thunder!” Ash shouts, Just as Salatad lands behind Pikachu, Pikachu quickly turns and releases a big bolt of electricity at Salatad shocking it, “Good shot Pikachu!” The group all say, Salatad is hit, but is not out, Salatad then turns to Pikachu and uses Poison Tail on Pikachu, hitting it, “Oh no Pikachu!” Ella says, “Just stay there Pikachu” Ash says, “What’s Ash doing?” Cole asks, “He must have a plan” Brock says, Pikachu just stands there, and Salatad wonders what its doing, Salatad can’t wait so it uses Water Gun on Pikachu, Pikachu gets hit by the Water Gun, “Now Pikachu Thunder again!” Ash shouts, Pikachu charges up and uses Thunder while Salatad is attacking it with Water Gun, the Thunder wraps around the water gun and shocks Salatad, making it fall to the ground, “Now’s your chance Ash, catch it!” Cole says to Ash, Ash reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Pokeball and enlarges it, “Go Pokeball!” he says throwing it, the ball spins around in the air and hits Salatad, sucking it inside and then it falls to the ground, it rocks back and forth, back and forth, the group wait as the pokeball shakes around on the ground, the ball then stops moving, “Ash you caught it, You caught Salatad!” Ella says in joy, Ash walks over to the pokeball and picks it up, Pikachu runs over to him and jumps onto his shoulder, “Good job Pikachu, you were great” he says and Pikachu smiles, Ash lets Salatad out of its Pokeball, “Welcome to the team Salatad” Ash says and Salatad just looks at him, then smiles a bit.
A few moments later, the sun is setting in the sky in all shades of orange and yellow light, and the group finally arrive in Rustbolt City, “Yay we’re here at last” Cole says as the look around to see a metropolis of buildings and lights flicking everywhere, “So this is Rustbolt City” Ash says, “Looks there’s a Pokemon Center” Ella says point over to a big Yellow building with a big PC on the front of it, “Lets go” Ash says and the group go inside,
Inside they are greeted by Nurse Joy and Brock does his usual flirtation and Moonky emerges from its pokeball and jumps on his face, “Hi Nurse Joy, we would like to heal our pokemon” Ash says “That’s what we’re here for” Nurse Joy says smiling, Ash puts Pikachu and his 3 pokeballs on a tray, Ella puts her 3 pokeballs on another tray and Cole puts his 3 on another one.
Moments later Nurse Joy is back with their Pokemon, “All healed up and ready to go” she says, the group take their pokemon back, “Thanks” they all say, “Well we’ve got big events coming so we should get some rest” Ella says, “That’s for sure, Tomorrow I’m gonna battle the Rustbolt City Gym Contest leader!” Cole says clutching his fists,
“What’s the rush?” a voice says from behind them, the group turn to see Cole’s rival Nate, “Hey Cole” he says, “Nate!” Cole says back to him.

“Well, that was a sight” Brock says, “Sure was” Ella says, “That Salatad was awesome” Cole says, “It dodged all of Paul’s Pokemon attacks, and took them down with only a couple of hits” he says.
“Well I guess we should get going, Rustbolt City is just over the hill, so we better go before it gets dark” Brock says, “Lets go” Ash says, the group pack up and return their pokemon back into their Pokeballs.
The group make their way down the path alongside the lake, as they walk along, Salatad jumps out in front of them, “Oh Salatad” Ash says, “Do you want something?” he asks it, Salatad looks at Ash, and gets into a battle pose, “I think it wants to battle you now” Brock says, “Battle?, so you want to battle me now Salatad?” Ash asks it and it nods, “Okay then” Ash says, Salatad gets ready and Ash gets ready, “Pikachu I think you should have this battle” Ash says to Pikachu on his shoulder, Pikachu nods and jumps onto the ground, “Okay Pikachu lets go, Quick Attack!” Ash shouts out, Pikachu runs up to Salatad in a flash of light and goes to tackle it, but again Salatad jumps out of the way, “It’s still dodging attacks Ash, you gotta think of another way” Ella says, “Another way…” Ash says to himself, he then remembers how Salatad waited until the attack is about to hit when it jumps out of the way, “Okay I’ve got it now” Ash says, “Pikachu Quick Attack again!” Ash shouts, Pikachu runs back up to Salatad and goes in for the attack, just as Pikachu goes to hit, Salatad jumps over it, “Now Pikachu Thunder!” Ash shouts, Just as Salatad lands behind Pikachu, Pikachu quickly turns and releases a big bolt of electricity at Salatad shocking it, “Good shot Pikachu!” The group all say, Salatad is hit, but is not out, Salatad then turns to Pikachu and uses Poison Tail on Pikachu, hitting it, “Oh no Pikachu!” Ella says, “Just stay there Pikachu” Ash says, “What’s Ash doing?” Cole asks, “He must have a plan” Brock says, Pikachu just stands there, and Salatad wonders what its doing, Salatad can’t wait so it uses Water Gun on Pikachu, Pikachu gets hit by the Water Gun, “Now Pikachu Thunder again!” Ash shouts, Pikachu charges up and uses Thunder while Salatad is attacking it with Water Gun, the Thunder wraps around the water gun and shocks Salatad, making it fall to the ground, “Now’s your chance Ash, catch it!” Cole says to Ash, Ash reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Pokeball and enlarges it, “Go Pokeball!” he says throwing it, the ball spins around in the air and hits Salatad, sucking it inside and then it falls to the ground, it rocks back and forth, back and forth, the group wait as the pokeball shakes around on the ground, the ball then stops moving, “Ash you caught it, You caught Salatad!” Ella says in joy, Ash walks over to the pokeball and picks it up, Pikachu runs over to him and jumps onto his shoulder, “Good job Pikachu, you were great” he says and Pikachu smiles, Ash lets Salatad out of its Pokeball, “Welcome to the team Salatad” Ash says and Salatad just looks at him, then smiles a bit.
A few moments later, the sun is setting in the sky in all shades of orange and yellow light, and the group finally arrive in Rustbolt City, “Yay we’re here at last” Cole says as the look around to see a metropolis of buildings and lights flicking everywhere, “So this is Rustbolt City” Ash says, “Looks there’s a Pokemon Center” Ella says point over to a big Yellow building with a big PC on the front of it, “Lets go” Ash says and the group go inside,
Inside they are greeted by Nurse Joy and Brock does his usual flirtation and Moonky emerges from its pokeball and jumps on his face, “Hi Nurse Joy, we would like to heal our pokemon” Ash says “That’s what we’re here for” Nurse Joy says smiling, Ash puts Pikachu and his 3 pokeballs on a tray, Ella puts her 3 pokeballs on another tray and Cole puts his 3 on another one.
Moments later Nurse Joy is back with their Pokemon, “All healed up and ready to go” she says, the group take their pokemon back, “Thanks” they all say, “Well we’ve got big events coming so we should get some rest” Ella says, “That’s for sure, Tomorrow I’m gonna battle the Rustbolt City Gym Contest leader!” Cole says clutching his fists,
“What’s the rush?” a voice says from behind them, the group turn to see Cole’s rival Nate, “Hey Cole” he says, “Nate!” Cole says back to him.
