After a relaxing day by the lake, and Ash’s new capture of Salatad the group have finally reached Rustbolt City and are at the Pokemon Center where the meet up with an old face, Nate!
“Nate, what are you doing here?” Cole asks Nate, “The same reason as you” Nate replies, “You’re taking on the Rustbolt City Gym contest leader are you not?” Nate says, “Well yeah” Cole says, “So Cole how many Gym medals do you have?” Nate asks, “Well, right now I only have 1” Cole says scratching his head,
“Well I have 2!” Nate says pulling out a small green case with 2-gym medals in it with 3 empty spots beside them, “So you won the Twilight Medal from Sydney, and what’s that medal?” Cole says looking at his medals, “That’s the Charge Medal, I just won it” Nate says, “Oh so that’s the gym medal you can get here?” Ash asks, “Sure is,” Nate replies,
“So lets see yours then” Nate says as he tucks the case away, “Well I don’t actually have it on me” Cole says scratching his head again, “Why not?” Nate asks, “Well I won the Lucid Medal from Vinny in Serpintine City, but he had run out and he said he was going to send it to Wade in Waytide City, which he has and is now waiting for me when I get there” Cole says, “Oh that’s cool” Nate replies,
“So have you caught any new Pokemon?” Nate asks, “Well yeah I have” Cole says, “Me too!” Nate says, “So how about we have a battle tomorrow in the morning?” Nate asks, “A battle…with you…well yeah!” Cole says, “Then its settled first thing in the morning, we’ll have a battle” Nate says,
“But right now I need to sleep” Cole says, “Us too!” Ash, Ella and Brock all say and they all head off to bed.
A while passes and the group are all sleeping in their bunk beds, Ella on the top of one bunk with Pruddy, Lavenseed and Tweetot asleep with her, Brock on the top of the other bunk, Ash asleep on the bottom bunk with Pikachu, and Cole on Ella’s bunk on the bottom, he is tossing and turning cause he can’t get to sleep, he wakes up and looks out the window and sees the stars in the sky, Cole sits up to see Purrlit asleep on the bed with him, he reaches over and pats it on the head and it wakes up, “Sorry Purrlit” he says to it as it yawns and smiles at him, “Purrlit, I can’t sleep” he whisper to it, and Purrlit looks at him worried, “I think we need to do some training for tomorrow” he says, “Is that okay?” he asks and Purrlit smiles, “Okay then” he says, he sneaks over to his top on a cheer and puts it on and he goes outside.
Outside Cole lets Toron and Wooper out of their Pokeballs, “Okay guys, its time for a late night training sessions before out battle with Nate tomorrow” he says to Purrlit, Toron and Wooper all in a line, “So I think we’ll start off with a quick battle” he says and they all agree.
Cole finds a training dummy of a Snorlax and uses it to battle with.
Cole stands with the 3 pokemon facing the big Snorlax dummy in a triangle, “Okay guys lets go!” he says,
“Purrlit Scratch attack!” Cole shouts, “Toron Rollout, and Wooper Water Gun!”
Purrlit charges up to the Snorlax dummy and starts scratching at if furiously, Toron rolls up into a ball and spins itself and rolls around on the ground and charges into the Snorlax dummy, and Wooper’s mouth fills up with water and it releases it in a big powerful blast of water at the Snorlax dummy, all the attacks tear at the Snorlax dummy which causes it to explode into pieces of fluff,
“Wow guys that was great!” Cole says and all of his pokemon smile at him, “Now lets try some dodging attacks” Cole says, “Purrlit we’ll start with you” he says, Purrlit stands away facing Cole as Toron and Wooper stand with him, “Ready” Cole says to Purrlit, and Purrlit nods and beds down to get ready for the attacks, “Okay Toron, Rollout” Cole calls out Toron rolls up and spins around charge straight at Purrlit, Purrlit gets ready and just as Toron goes in for the hit, Purrlit jumps up into the air, “Good one Purrlit!” Cole says, Toron spins around and comes back for Purrlit, Purrlit stands there and just as Toron is about to hit again, Purrlit dives out of the way, “Awesome moving Purrlit!” Cole says and Purrlit smiles,
“Right Toron your next” Cole says, and Toron runs out and faces Cole, “Wooper, Water gun” Cole calls out, Wooper fills up and shoots bullets of water at Toron and Toron dashes out of the way from all of them, Wooper starts following Toron with the water shots and Toron keeps dodging them all, “That’s great dodging Toron” Cole says and Toron smiles with a sense of achievement, “Now Wooper it’s your turn” Cole says and Wooper runs out all happy and faces Cole, “Right Purrlit, Ember!” Cole calls out, Purrlit powers up and shoots bullets of red embers at Wooper, Wooper stands and waits as just at the embers get closer it jumps, but it jumps too late and it hit by a couple of embers, “Wooper!” Cole calls out, Wooper is hit but its okay, “Okay Wooper, we’ll try it again” Cole says and Wooper nods, “Purrlit Ember again!” Cole calls, Purrlit fires another round of embers at Wooper, and Wooper stands waiting, and again Wooper jumps too late and is hit again by the embers, “Wooper, not again!” Cole says, Wooper falls to the ground, “Come on Wooper, I know you can do it” Cole says to Wooper, “Just concentrate” Cole says, Wooper looks at Cole and sees all the hope he has in it, “Okay Purrlit one more time Ember attack!” Cole calls out, Purrlit fires off the ember and it comes straight for Wooper, Instead of jumping out of the way, Wooper fills its mouth with water and fires off a blast of water bullets at all the embers putting them all out,
“Wow Wooper…” Cole says and Wooper looks at him, “That was Awesome! Instead of dodging the embers you blocked them by using your own attack!” Cole says with joy, Wooper smiles and jumps for joy that Cole is pleased with it, Suddenly Wooper starts to glow a bright white light, “Wooper?” Cole says, Cole Purrlit and Toron watch in wonder at Wooper glowing, “I think Wooper’s evolving!” Cole says, Wooper starts to grow and change its shape, after a few seconds Wooper stops glowing, and standing before him is a bright blue pokemon with a long tail and a blue squiggly fin running down its back, “Quag?” it says, “Wooper evolved into Quagsire!” Cole says is joy, Cole grabs Quagsire’s hands and they start jumping around in a circle, “I can’t believe it!” he says as Purrlit and Toron dance around them, “So Quagsire, do you know any new attacks?” Cole asks it, Quagsire nods, “You do, well I wonder what the attack is?” Cole says, he pulls out his Pokedex and scans Quagsire to read its list of attacks,
“You know Water Gun, Slam, Dew Drop, Mud Shot and…Ice Punch!” Cole says in amazement,
“Wow so you did learn a new attack!” he says with a smile, “Well we better get some rest now, after all this hard training” he says, he returns Purrlit, Toron and Quagsire into their pokeballs and heads back off to bed.
The next day the group are up and ready waiting on Cole, “Cole wake up!” Ella says nudging on Cole, “Your battle with Nate is today!” she says, Cole slowly wakes up, “What…” he says, “Your battle with Nate!” She screams at him, “Oh yeah!” he says jumping out of bed, “My battle with Nate, I better get ready” he says throwing his clothes on, and racing out the door, “Looks like he can’t wait to battle” Ash says, “Looks like it” Brock says.
Outside the Pokemon center Nate is waiting on a bench as Cole and the group arrive outside, “Wow another sunny and hot day” Ash says, “I think we should get use to it for now” Brock says,
“There you are,” he says to Cole, “Are you ready for out battle?” he asks, “Sure am!” Cole says clutching his fist,
“And I’m gonna win!” he says, “We’ll see” Nate says as he sits up, “so lets go!” he says.
Ash, Brock and Ella sit on the bench as Cole and Nate stand opposite each other on the grass,
Meanwhile Team Rocket are watching them from the bushes, “Who’s that twerp in the green?” James says, “That’s the kid that tired to catch Toron a while ago” Meowth says, “So the new twerp is gonna battle the green twerp” Jesse says, “Looks like it” Meowth says, “I don’t really feel like going for Pikachu today” Jesse says, “I’d rather see what Pokemon that green kid has, and see if they are worth taking” she says, “I agree, besides it’s nice in the shade” James says.
“So Cole, what do you say to using 3 pokemon each” Nate calls out, “Sure!” he says, “I’ll let you go first” Nate says, Cole pulls a Pokeball out of his pocket and enlarging it, “I choose Purrlit!” Cole says as he throws the pokeball out, in a flash of light Purrlit comes out of its pokeball, and stands on the ground,
“So you’re going with Purrlit, in that case, I choose Lombre!” Nate says as he throws a pokeball out on the field, in a flash of light Lombre emerges from the light, “Wow Nate’s Lotad evolved into a Lombre” Ella says, “Lets go Lombre Swift attack!” Nate calls out, Lombre jumps into the air and slashes the air releasing a wave of spinning stars at Purrlit, “Purrlit, like we practiced, move!” Cole says, Purrlit gets ready for the attack and jumps out of the way before the Swift can hit it, “Wow, that was fast” Ash says, “Now Purrlit, Ember!” Cole calls out, Purrlit, still in the air releases a blast of ember at Lombre, but Lombre is too slow to turn around and is struck by the ember, “Lombre, quick Mega Drain!” Nate calls out, as Purrlit lands on the ground, Lombre gets up and jumps at Purrlit and grabs it, it starts to drain Purrlit of its energy, “Purrlit!” Cole calls out as Purrlit roars in pain, “Purrlit try and get out of it!” Cole shouts, Purrlit struggles but it can’t get free, Nate smirks, Cole stops and thinks, and sees that Purrlit’s tail is free, “I got it, Purrlit Iron Tail now!” Cole shouts, Purrlit’s tail glows and it swings it at Lombre hitting it on the head and it lets go, Lombre falls to the ground and so does Purrlit, both are hurt but not out of the battle,
“Purrlit Ember!” Cole calls out, “Lombre Swift!” Nate calls out, Purrlit releases a blast of ember at Lombre, and Lombre releases a blast of spinning stars at Purrlit, both of the attacks hit causing an explosion, knocking into both Purrlit and Lombre sending them to the ground, Everyone watches in awe, “Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Purrlit struggles to get up and so does Lombre but they both fall to the ground, knocked out, “Wow it’s a draw” Ella says, Cole and Nate return their pokemon into their pokeballs, “You did so good” Cole says to Purrlit in the pokeball, “You deserve a good long rest Lombre” Nate says, they both tuck the pokeballs away and pull out another one,
“Okay now I’ll got first” Nate says, “I choose Herovor!” Nate says throwing out the pokeball and Herovor comes out, “So Herovor, I choose Toron!” Cole says throwing out the pokeball and Toron comes out, “Lets go Herovor Razor Leaf” Nate says, Herovor blasts a wave of Razor leafs at Toron, “Toron deflect it with Rollout!” Cole shouts, Toron quickly rolls up and spins around knocking the razor leafs away, it then charges at Herovor knocking into it sending it to the ground, “Now’s your chance Toron, Cannonball!” Cole calls out, as Herovor tries to get up, Toron jumps into the air and comes shooting down like a cannonball straight for Herovor, Herovor gets up and Nate shouts, “Herovor move now!” Herovor quickly jumps out of the way and Toron hits the ground hurting itself too, Toron lies in a hole in the ground and struggles to get up, “Whoa Toron’s Cannonball attack got itself hurt” Ash says,
“Yeah that’s the downside of that attack, the opponent has time to dodge the attack and if it does the user gets all the damage,” Brock says,
“Okay Herovor, Razor Leaf again!” Nate says, Herovor jumps into the air above the hole with Toron in it and fires off a razor leaf at it, Toron gets hit over and over, “Lets finish it Herovor, Razor Leaf again!” Nate shouts, Herovor lets out another blast of Razor leaf hitting Toron again, this time knocking it out, “Toron no!” Cole shouts out as Toron falls to the ground knocked out, “Whoa, Last time Toron beat Herovor, now Herovor beat Toron” Ella says, “Looks like Nate has been doing some training” Ash says, “And now Cole is down to his last Pokemon, Wooper” Brock says, “And Wooper is weak against grass types like Herovor” Ella says.
Cole returns Toron back its pokeball and thanks it, “Well, well Cole it looks like your down to your last Pokemon” Nate says, “So lets have it”, Cole smiles and enlarges a pokeball, “Here goes” Ash says,
“Okay I choose you!” Cole says throwing the pokeball, and in a big flash of white light, Quagsire shows itself, “QUAGSIRE!” the group all shout,
Team Rocket are still watching from the bushes, “Wow so that new twerps Wooper evolved into Quagsire” James says, “Argh, it would have been mine if it listened to me” Jesse says,
“Cole when did Wooper evolve into Quagsire?” Ella asks, “Well last night I snuck out and we did some training and Wooper evolved to Quagsire,” he says, “That’s awesome Cole!” Ash says,
“So lets get to it” Cole says, “Okay then,” Nate replies, “Herovor, Razor Leaf!” Nate calls out, Herovor lets out another Razor Leaf, “Like we practiced,” Cole says to Quagsire, Quagsire stands there and doesn’t move, “Why isn’t Quagsire moving?” Ella wonders,
The razor leafs get closer to Quagsire and Quagsire lifts its head, an shoots out a powerful Water Gun attack at it, knocking all the leafs away, “Whoa!” Ash, Brock and Ella says, the Water gun was so powerful that it hits Herovor soaking it in water, “Now Quagsire Ice Punch!” Cole calls out, Quagsire runs up to Herovor with its fist glowing blue and punches Herovor freezing it in a block of ice, “Whoa Quagsire knows Ice Punch” Ash says, “Yeah and that’s strong against a Grass type” Brock says, Herovor is frozen in ice and can’t move, “Lets finish this Quagsire, Slam!” Cole calls out, Quagsire runs back up to the frozen Herovor and slams it with its arms, smashing the ice and hitting Herovor, Herovor falls to the ground knocked out, “Herovor return” Nate says as Herovor goes back into the pokeball, “You did so good” he says to it, “Well down to my last pokemon” Nate says, “Looks like it” Cole says back, “Well lets go Chikorita!” Nate says throwing a pokeball, Chikorita appears before them, “Oh its so cute!” Ella says, “It maybe cute, buts its also tough” Nate says, “So lets go, Chikorita Magical Leaf” Nate says, Chikorita swings the leaf on its head and releases a big wave of glowing leafs at Quagsire, “Quagsire dodge it!” Cole shouts, Quagsire goes to dodge the attack but its still to slow and gets hit, “Good shot Chikorita” Nate says,
Quagsire falls to the ground and gets back up hurt, “Dew Drop” Cole says, Quagsire raises its head into the sky and sprinkles water from its mouth and it falls onto Quagsire returning its health back, “Argh” Nate says, “Chikorita Magical Leaf again” Nate says, Chikorita releases another blast of Magical leaf at Quagsire, “Quick Water Gun” Cole shouts, Quagsire deflects the attack with Water Gun, “now Quagsire Water Gun on Chikorita!” Cole says, Quagsire hits Chikorita with Water Gun, “Water Gun won’t do anything to Chikorita” Nate says, “No but it helps!” Cole says, “Go Ice Punch”
Quagsire punches Chikorita and freezes it just like it did Herovor, “Oh no!” Nate says in fear, “I see Cole got Quagsire to wet Chikorita so that Ice Punch will instantly freeze it” Ella says, “That’s good tactics” Ash says, “You got me again!” Nate says to Cole, “Sure did, lets go Quagsire Slam like before!” Cole shouts, Quagsire runs up and slams its arms onto the block of ice smashing it to bits, Chikorita goes flying to the ground, “Chikorita Synthesis quick!” Nate says and Chikorita starts to absorb sunlight, “Quick Quagsire before it heals” Cole says, “Slam again!”
Quagsire runs up and slams into Chikorita, hitting it directly, and this time knocking it out, “Quagsire wins!” Ash shouts, “YEAH!” Cole shouts in victory, “You beat me Cole fare and square” Nate says, Nate walks over to Quagsire, “That we so awesome” he says patting it on the head, the group walk up to Cole, “That was an awesome battle” Ash says, “Yeah congrats on the win” Brock says, Nate walks over to Cole “Yeah that was a tough battle Cole, you were so good, I think that if I could beat the Gym contest leader, then you can for sure” he says, “Thanks” Cole replies,
“So lets go straight there,” Cole says, “Right now!” Ash says, “yeah!” he says rushing into the Pokemon Center, “Just as soon as I’ve healed up!”

“So Cole, what do you say to using 3 pokemon each” Nate calls out, “Sure!” he says, “I’ll let you go first” Nate says, Cole pulls a Pokeball out of his pocket and enlarging it, “I choose Purrlit!” Cole says as he throws the pokeball out, in a flash of light Purrlit comes out of its pokeball, and stands on the ground,
“So you’re going with Purrlit, in that case, I choose Lombre!” Nate says as he throws a pokeball out on the field, in a flash of light Lombre emerges from the light, “Wow Nate’s Lotad evolved into a Lombre” Ella says, “Lets go Lombre Swift attack!” Nate calls out, Lombre jumps into the air and slashes the air releasing a wave of spinning stars at Purrlit, “Purrlit, like we practiced, move!” Cole says, Purrlit gets ready for the attack and jumps out of the way before the Swift can hit it, “Wow, that was fast” Ash says, “Now Purrlit, Ember!” Cole calls out, Purrlit, still in the air releases a blast of ember at Lombre, but Lombre is too slow to turn around and is struck by the ember, “Lombre, quick Mega Drain!” Nate calls out, as Purrlit lands on the ground, Lombre gets up and jumps at Purrlit and grabs it, it starts to drain Purrlit of its energy, “Purrlit!” Cole calls out as Purrlit roars in pain, “Purrlit try and get out of it!” Cole shouts, Purrlit struggles but it can’t get free, Nate smirks, Cole stops and thinks, and sees that Purrlit’s tail is free, “I got it, Purrlit Iron Tail now!” Cole shouts, Purrlit’s tail glows and it swings it at Lombre hitting it on the head and it lets go, Lombre falls to the ground and so does Purrlit, both are hurt but not out of the battle,
“Purrlit Ember!” Cole calls out, “Lombre Swift!” Nate calls out, Purrlit releases a blast of ember at Lombre, and Lombre releases a blast of spinning stars at Purrlit, both of the attacks hit causing an explosion, knocking into both Purrlit and Lombre sending them to the ground, Everyone watches in awe, “Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Purrlit struggles to get up and so does Lombre but they both fall to the ground, knocked out, “Wow it’s a draw” Ella says, Cole and Nate return their pokemon into their pokeballs, “You did so good” Cole says to Purrlit in the pokeball, “You deserve a good long rest Lombre” Nate says, they both tuck the pokeballs away and pull out another one,
“Okay now I’ll got first” Nate says, “I choose Herovor!” Nate says throwing out the pokeball and Herovor comes out, “So Herovor, I choose Toron!” Cole says throwing out the pokeball and Toron comes out, “Lets go Herovor Razor Leaf” Nate says, Herovor blasts a wave of Razor leafs at Toron, “Toron deflect it with Rollout!” Cole shouts, Toron quickly rolls up and spins around knocking the razor leafs away, it then charges at Herovor knocking into it sending it to the ground, “Now’s your chance Toron, Cannonball!” Cole calls out, as Herovor tries to get up, Toron jumps into the air and comes shooting down like a cannonball straight for Herovor, Herovor gets up and Nate shouts, “Herovor move now!” Herovor quickly jumps out of the way and Toron hits the ground hurting itself too, Toron lies in a hole in the ground and struggles to get up, “Whoa Toron’s Cannonball attack got itself hurt” Ash says,
“Yeah that’s the downside of that attack, the opponent has time to dodge the attack and if it does the user gets all the damage,” Brock says,
“Okay Herovor, Razor Leaf again!” Nate says, Herovor jumps into the air above the hole with Toron in it and fires off a razor leaf at it, Toron gets hit over and over, “Lets finish it Herovor, Razor Leaf again!” Nate shouts, Herovor lets out another blast of Razor leaf hitting Toron again, this time knocking it out, “Toron no!” Cole shouts out as Toron falls to the ground knocked out, “Whoa, Last time Toron beat Herovor, now Herovor beat Toron” Ella says, “Looks like Nate has been doing some training” Ash says, “And now Cole is down to his last Pokemon, Wooper” Brock says, “And Wooper is weak against grass types like Herovor” Ella says.
Cole returns Toron back its pokeball and thanks it, “Well, well Cole it looks like your down to your last Pokemon” Nate says, “So lets have it”, Cole smiles and enlarges a pokeball, “Here goes” Ash says,
“Okay I choose you!” Cole says throwing the pokeball, and in a big flash of white light, Quagsire shows itself, “QUAGSIRE!” the group all shout,
Team Rocket are still watching from the bushes, “Wow so that new twerps Wooper evolved into Quagsire” James says, “Argh, it would have been mine if it listened to me” Jesse says,
“Cole when did Wooper evolve into Quagsire?” Ella asks, “Well last night I snuck out and we did some training and Wooper evolved to Quagsire,” he says, “That’s awesome Cole!” Ash says,
“So lets get to it” Cole says, “Okay then,” Nate replies, “Herovor, Razor Leaf!” Nate calls out, Herovor lets out another Razor Leaf, “Like we practiced,” Cole says to Quagsire, Quagsire stands there and doesn’t move, “Why isn’t Quagsire moving?” Ella wonders,
The razor leafs get closer to Quagsire and Quagsire lifts its head, an shoots out a powerful Water Gun attack at it, knocking all the leafs away, “Whoa!” Ash, Brock and Ella says, the Water gun was so powerful that it hits Herovor soaking it in water, “Now Quagsire Ice Punch!” Cole calls out, Quagsire runs up to Herovor with its fist glowing blue and punches Herovor freezing it in a block of ice, “Whoa Quagsire knows Ice Punch” Ash says, “Yeah and that’s strong against a Grass type” Brock says, Herovor is frozen in ice and can’t move, “Lets finish this Quagsire, Slam!” Cole calls out, Quagsire runs back up to the frozen Herovor and slams it with its arms, smashing the ice and hitting Herovor, Herovor falls to the ground knocked out, “Herovor return” Nate says as Herovor goes back into the pokeball, “You did so good” he says to it, “Well down to my last pokemon” Nate says, “Looks like it” Cole says back, “Well lets go Chikorita!” Nate says throwing a pokeball, Chikorita appears before them, “Oh its so cute!” Ella says, “It maybe cute, buts its also tough” Nate says, “So lets go, Chikorita Magical Leaf” Nate says, Chikorita swings the leaf on its head and releases a big wave of glowing leafs at Quagsire, “Quagsire dodge it!” Cole shouts, Quagsire goes to dodge the attack but its still to slow and gets hit, “Good shot Chikorita” Nate says,
Quagsire falls to the ground and gets back up hurt, “Dew Drop” Cole says, Quagsire raises its head into the sky and sprinkles water from its mouth and it falls onto Quagsire returning its health back, “Argh” Nate says, “Chikorita Magical Leaf again” Nate says, Chikorita releases another blast of Magical leaf at Quagsire, “Quick Water Gun” Cole shouts, Quagsire deflects the attack with Water Gun, “now Quagsire Water Gun on Chikorita!” Cole says, Quagsire hits Chikorita with Water Gun, “Water Gun won’t do anything to Chikorita” Nate says, “No but it helps!” Cole says, “Go Ice Punch”
Quagsire punches Chikorita and freezes it just like it did Herovor, “Oh no!” Nate says in fear, “I see Cole got Quagsire to wet Chikorita so that Ice Punch will instantly freeze it” Ella says, “That’s good tactics” Ash says, “You got me again!” Nate says to Cole, “Sure did, lets go Quagsire Slam like before!” Cole shouts, Quagsire runs up and slams its arms onto the block of ice smashing it to bits, Chikorita goes flying to the ground, “Chikorita Synthesis quick!” Nate says and Chikorita starts to absorb sunlight, “Quick Quagsire before it heals” Cole says, “Slam again!”
Quagsire runs up and slams into Chikorita, hitting it directly, and this time knocking it out, “Quagsire wins!” Ash shouts, “YEAH!” Cole shouts in victory, “You beat me Cole fare and square” Nate says, Nate walks over to Quagsire, “That we so awesome” he says patting it on the head, the group walk up to Cole, “That was an awesome battle” Ash says, “Yeah congrats on the win” Brock says, Nate walks over to Cole “Yeah that was a tough battle Cole, you were so good, I think that if I could beat the Gym contest leader, then you can for sure” he says, “Thanks” Cole replies,
“So lets go straight there,” Cole says, “Right now!” Ash says, “yeah!” he says rushing into the Pokemon Center, “Just as soon as I’ve healed up!”

Kinda hard to follow since the dialogue is a bit mushed together, but getting past that it's pretty interesting. xD
