“Cole wait!” Brock shouts, Cole then stops in his tracks, “Come on guys!” Cole says with excitement in his voice, “There’s no rush, the gym contest leader isn’t going anywhere” Ash says, “You should take your time and plan your battle strategy” Ash says, “Oh your right” Cole replies, so the group start walking, a few minutes later they walk pass a building with a poster on it, saying ‘Pokemon Contest Today!’ “What!” Ella shouts, “There’s a Pokemon Contest today, I didn’t know that!” she says, she jumps up to the poster and she reads the small print, “Oh…” she says, “What’s wrong Ella?” Brock asks,
“The contest today is for Bug type pokemon, and since I don’t have any Bug Pokemon, I guess its okay” she says, “Okay then back to the gym!” Cole says marching away.
Team Rocket who were following the group over hear Ella talking about a contest, Jesse runs up to the poster, “A contest today for Bug types!” she says, “That’s perfect, I can enter in with Yanmega!” she says with a big grin on her face, “What about the twerps?” James asks, “Forget them, I need to win that contest, its more important than stealing Pikachu!” she says, She runs off towards the contest hall, James and Meowth sigh and then follow her.
“Wow!” The group says as they stand outside a big white building resembling a Pachirisu with a big yellow sign saying ‘GYM’ on it, “Wow what a gym!” Ella says, “Sure is!” Ash says, “Lets go in!” Cole says, just as they are about to go inside the doors open and a familiar face walks out, the group stops and looks at her, “ELECTRA!” the group all say, “What are you doing here?” Ash asks, “Haha” she laughs, “I’m here because I have to be” she says, “Why’s that?” Cole asks, Electra looks at Cole, “Isn’t it obvious?” she says,
After a few seconds they all realize, “You’re the gym leader!” they all say, “Bingo!” Electra says, “So I take it your all here to battle Bolton and I” she says, “We sure are!” Cole and Ash both say,
“Well come on in!” she says showing the way, “Oh wait, which one of you are going to battle first?” Electra asks, “I am!” Cole says before Ash has the chance to open his mouth, “I guess Cole is” Ash says, “Okay then, You guys go and get ready in the gym while I get Bolton” she says, the group nod and they part ways.
Back with Team Rocket, they make it to the contest hall, Jesse is huffing and puffing from running there and slipping into her disguise as Jesselina, they get inside and see lots of trainers with all kinds of Bug Pokemon, one boy trains with his Stickit, a girl watches her Beautifly fly around, another girl watches her Surskit juggling 3 red balls,
“Am…I…too…late” she says to the lady standing behind the desk, “Ahh…no…you still have a couple of minutes to enter” she says,
“Good, I want to enter with my Yanmega!” Jesse says slamming down her contest pass, “Okay, sure!” the lady says scanning Jesse’s contest pass, “Congratulations Jesselina you’re entered into the Bug Type Contest” the lady says, “Yay, I’m gonna win this one, no one else can beat me!” Jesse shouts punching into the air.
Ash, Brock and Ella sit in the stands waiting for the battle to start as Cole stands on the battlefield, waiting for Bolton, just then Electra walks into the battle room, “Here he is Bolton, his is Cole” Electra says, a boy with spiky silver hair and a dark blue pants and a white and light blue top steps forward and shakes Cole’s hand “Hello Cole it’s nice to meet you,” he says shaking his hand, “Nice to meet you too Bolton” Cole says, “So shall we get this battle started?” Bolton asks, “I thought you’d never ask!” Cole replies.
A few moments later Electra is sitting with Ash, Brock and Ella, and Cole and Bolton stand on the battlefield, the referee stands forward, “This battle will be between Bolton the Rustbolt City Gym contest leader and Cole from Mossy Town”, “Each trainer will use 3 Pokemon each” the referee raises his flags into the air, “Start the battle!” he says waving the flags down, “I’ll start first” Bolton says, “I choose Raizid!” he says throwing out a Pokeball, in a flash of light a small brown and blue pokemon emerges, “a Raizid aye?” Ash says pulling out his Pokedex,
“Raizid, the Static Pokemon, Raizid can build up electricity through the ground by running on its toes, it can then use that electricity as attacks” the pokedex says,
“Looks like Raizid is gonna be tough, I wonder what Cole will start off with?” Ash says,
Cole looks at Raizid and thinks, “I think I’m gonna go with…” he says to himself, her then picks a pokeball out of his pocket and enlarges it, then throws it out onto the battlefield, “I choose Toron!” he says, Toron then emerges from the pokeball, “Good choice” Bolton says, “Go Raizid, Quick Attack!” Bolton calls out, Raizid starts running and charges at Toron, “Toron Solid Skin!” Cole calls out, Toron stands there and starts shining, Raizid hits Toron but it does no damage, Raizid then bounces off Toron, “Lets go Toron, Rollout!” Cole shouts, Toron wraps up into a ball and starts rolling at Raizid and hits, it, “Raizid!” Bolton shouts as Raizid falls to the ground, but its manages to get back up, “Okay now Raizid, Dig!” Bolton shouts, Raizid starts digging into the ground creating a hole, Toron stands on the ground looking around wondering where it is, “Now Raizid!” Bolton calls out, Raizid then smashes out of the ground spilling rocks everywhere and all over Toron blocking its view of Raizid, “Now Raizid Iron Tail!” Bolton shouts,
Raizid swings its glowing tail and hits Toron dead on sending it flying across the ground, “Toron no!” Cole shouts.
Meanwhile the contest has been going on and Jesse and Yanmega are into the battle rounds, facing off against a boy with a Scyther, “Scyther Fury Cutter!” the boy calls out, Jesselina stands ready with Yanmega, Scyther runs up to Yanmega with its blades glowing, “Dodge it Yanmega!” Jesse shouts, just as Scyther goes to strike Yanmega, Yanmega flies up into the air and dodges the attack, “Steel wing now!” Jesse shouts, Yanmega turns to Scyther with its wings glowing, it swoops down and strikes Scyther with a direct hit, Scyther falls to the ground fainted, the screen above the stage changes to Jesse and Yanmega’s faces saying ‘Winner’ Jesselina and Yanmega win their battle, “Jesselina and Yanmega has made it into the final round” says the contest host, James, Meowth and Wobbuffet watch from the stands, “Wow she made it into the final round” James says, “She may even win” Meowth says.
Back at the gym Cole and Bolton are still in the battle, “Toron Solid Skin!” Cole calls out as Raizid tries to use Iron Tail on it again, Raizid’s Iron Tail hits Toron but does no damage, Raizid struggles to push Toron with its tail on Toron’s head, “Go Toron, Headbutt!” Cole shouts, the small horn on Toron’s head starts glowing and Toron Pushes Raizid’s tail off it and then slams into it knocking Raizid to the ground, “Now Toron Take Down!” Cole shouts, Toron charges at Raizid who is trying to get up and charges right into it knocking it even further across the ground, “Wow” Ash says to himself, Raizid hits the ground knocked out, “Raizid is unable to battle, Toron wins” The referee says raising the flag on Cole’s side, “Yeah!” the group cheer, “Good one Cole!” Ash calls out, Bolton returns Raizid back into its pokeball, “Thanks Raizid” he says to the pokeball, “That was tough Cole” Bolton says, “But lets see you take on my next Pokemon” he says, he throws out the pokeball, “I choose Psytric!” in a flash of light Psytric emerges, “Psytric aye” Cole says, “Okay Toron lets go Rollout!” Cole calls out, Toron rolls up and charges at Psytric “Psytric…Psychic” Bolton says, Psytric starts glowing and blue wave of energy blasts at Toron wrapping around it, “Oh no!” Cole shouts, Toron starts floating in the air, “Go Psytric!” Bolton shots, Psytric then throws Toron through the air and hitting a wall, “Toron no!” Cole shouts, Toron falls to the ground but manages to get back up, “Psytric finish this now, Psywave!” Bolton shouts, Psychic’s eyes start glowing and a powerful blast of all different colors blasts into Toron smashing it back into the wall, “Whoa!” the group all say in amazement, “Toron!” Cole shouts, Psytric stops its Psywave and Toron falls back to the ground, knocked out, “Whoa Toron didn’t even get one hit on Psytric” Ella says, “Looks like Psytric is gonna be a tough one” Ash says.
Back at the contest, Jesse is about to begin her final battle, “This will be the final battle, Jesselina and Yanmega verses, Bebe and her Heracross” The contest host says and everyone cheers, “Lets get it started!” she shouts into the microphone, “Go Heracross!” Bebe shouts, “Yanmega!” Jesse shouts,
Yanmega flies into the air, “Heracross, Horn Attack!” Bebe shouts, Hearcross flies towards Yanmega with its horn glowing, “Use Sonic Boom!” Jesse shouts out to Yanmega, Yanmega flaps its wings really fast to cause a Sonic Boom attack that hits Heracross sending hurdling to the ground, Heracross hits the ground with a smash, “Get up Heracross” Bebe shouts, and Heracross does so “Heracross Focus Punch!” Bebe shouts, Heracross powers up and swings its fist at Yanmega, “Keep dodging!” Jesse says, Yanmega keeps dodging the attack as Heracross keeps swinging its fist, as time ticks down, Heracross starts to get tired, “Yanmega Steel Wing!” Jesse shouts, Yanmega’s wings start glowing and it charges into Heracross with them, sending it flying to the ground knocked out, the clock stops and the screen changes to Jesse and Yanmega’s face’s saying ‘Winner’ Jesse and Yanmega have won the Bug Type Contest, Jesse grabs Yanmega and hugs it and start dancing, James and Meowth hug and cry,
“She won!” they say, as Wobbuffet waves pom poms in the air, a few moments later Jesse stands on the stage with Yanmega and the contest host hands Jesse a green ribbon, “Congratulations Jesselina and Yanmega you have won the Flutter Ribbon!” the contest hosts says, Jesse holds the ribbon into the air,
“Grand Festival here I come!”
Back at the gym, Cole is ready with his next Pokemon, “I choose Purrlit!” he says throwing out the pokeball and Purrlit emerges, “Nice Purrlit” Bolton says, “Good choice”, “Thanks” Cole replies
“Lets go Purrlit, Ember!” Cole shouts out Purrlit’s mouth fills with fire and it shoots out orange glowing bullets at Psytric, “Psytric, Psychic!” Bolton calls out, Psytric stops the embers using its Psychic, “I knew you would do that!” Cole says, “Now Purrlit charge in and use Iron Tail!” Cole shouts, Bolton is stunned, realizing that if Psytric stops it Psychic attack to move, the embers will hit it and if it doesn’t move it will still get hit by the Iron Tail, Purrlit charges up and swings its tail at Psytric and hits it directly sending it crashing to the ground, “Psytric!” Bolton shouts out, Psytric lies on the ground struggling to get up, “Quickly Purrlit, Ember!” Cole shouts, Purrlit’s mouth fills up with flames again and shoots the embers out at Psytric, hitting it directly again, “Yeah!” the group shout, Psytric goes flying across the ground knocked out, “Psytric is unable to battle, Purrlit wins!” the referee shouts, “Good battle Cole!” the group shout out,
“Yes it was good thinking” Bolton says, “You really got me with that Iron Tail”, “But now I’m down to my last Pokemon” he says,
“For my last Pokemon I choose Raizodon!” Bolton shouts as he throws out a pokeball, the pokeball goes flying through the air and bursts open to reveal a big light brown and light blue pokemon, “Raizodon?” Cole says pulling out his pokedex,
“Raizodon, the Storm Pokemon, Raizodon is the evolved form of Raizid, it can absorb electricity through the spikes on its tail and head that it can release in powerful blasts”
“So Raizodon is the evolved form of Raizid” Ash says, “Looks like it could be tough”
“I bet Raizodon is slow because of its size so, Quick attack Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Purrlit charges up to Raizodon is a flash of light, “Raizodon…” Bolton says calmly, “Stomp”
As Purrlit gets closer, Raizodon lifts its foot and stomps on the ground causing a massive shockwave, knocking Purrlit away, “Oh no!” the group shout from the stands, “What Raizodon lacks in speed, it makes up for is strength” Electra says, Purrlit goes crashing and tumbling to the ground, and it struggles to get back up, “Whoa that was a powerful Stomp attack, Purrlit’s hurt bad” Cole says to himself, Purrlit gets back up off the ground, “Purrlit, Ember!” Purrlit fills its mouth with fire and fires the glowing bullets at Raizodon, “Stay there!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon does so and the embers hit it, “What?” Cole says, “Cole, Raizodon is part Ground type, Fire type attacks won’t hurt it!” Brock shouts out to Cole, “Oh” Cole says, “Raizodon, Thunder Punch!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon’s fist start glowing yellow and sparks form around it, it charges at Purrlit and hits it with a powerful punch also shocking Purrlit, Purrlit goes flying across the ground knocked out, “Oh no Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Cole pulls out a pokeball and returns Purrlit back into its pokeball, “Good job Purrlit” he says to the ball, he then tucks it away, “Looks like Cole is down to Quagsire” Ella says,
Cole pulls out a pokeball and throws it out, and Quagsire appears, “this is the last battle Cole” Bolton says, “And I’m ready!” he replies,
“Raizodon, Stomp!” Bolton shouts, Raizodon lifts its foot and smashes it on the ground,
“Quick Quagsire jump” Cole shouts, as the shockwaves come towards Quagsire, it quickly jumps into the air and avoids the attack, Quagsire starts falling down to the ground, “Quagsire, Water Gun!” Cole shouts, as Quagsire falls it fires a blast of water at Raizodon hitting it, “Good shot!” the group cheer, as Raizodon is hit by the water gun and Quagsire lands on the ground, “Raizodon, Thundershock!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon opens is mouth and releases a blast of electricity at Quagsire and it gets hit, “Oh no!” Cole shouts, after being shocked Cole is stunned to see that Quagsire is okay, “I thought for sure that was gonna end it” Cole says to himself, “Lets go Quagsire, Water Gun!” Cole shouts, Quagsire opens its mouth and fires a blast of water at Raizodon soaking it, “Now Quagsire Ice Punch!” Cole shouts, Quagsire’s fist start glowing a light blue color and mist surrounds it, Quagsire charges in to punch Raizodon, “Deflect it Raizodon, Thunder Punch!” Bolton shouts, Raizodon and Quagsire charge at each other with their glowing fists and the punch each other, causing a massive explosion of ice and electricity, “Oh no!” Cole shouts as the battlefield fills with smoke, everyone awaits to see if the battle it over.
The smoke clears and they see Quagsire and Raizodon both still standing but are breathing heavily,
Raizodon and Quagsire stare at each other puffing, until they both fall to the ground hurt but not out of the battle, “Oh no!” Ella says, “Think Cole, think…”Cole says to himself, “Oh yeah!” he says, “Quagsire, Dew Drop!” he shouts, Quagsire shoots water into the air and it falls onto it healing it, Quagsire gets back up “Oh no!” Bolton says, “Lets finish this Quagsire!” Cole shouts, “Water Gun!”, Quagsire’s mouth fills up with water and it releases a blast of twirling water at Raizodon, hitting it directly and sending it crashing to the ground knocked out, “Raizodon is unable to battle, Cole and Quagsire win the battle!” The referee shouts, “Yeah!” the group cheer as Cole and Quagsire dance around, “We did it Quagsire, we won our second gym medal!” he says.
A few moments later Bolton walks over to Cole and Quagsire holding out a tray with a small silver and white medal, “Here you go Cole, this is the Static Medal” Bolton says, Cole takes the medal off the tray and holds it in the air, “I won the Static Medal!” he says as Quagsire jumps around him.
“That was a really good battle Cole, you deserve it!” Ella says, “With all that training you did, its no wonder you won” Ash says, “Thanks guys” Cole says blushing, “Now Ash, I think its time for our battle” Electra says, “I think so too!” Ash says clutching his fist.

Yanmega flies into the air, “Heracross, Horn Attack!” Bebe shouts, Hearcross flies towards Yanmega with its horn glowing, “Use Sonic Boom!” Jesse shouts out to Yanmega, Yanmega flaps its wings really fast to cause a Sonic Boom attack that hits Heracross sending hurdling to the ground, Heracross hits the ground with a smash, “Get up Heracross” Bebe shouts, and Heracross does so “Heracross Focus Punch!” Bebe shouts, Heracross powers up and swings its fist at Yanmega, “Keep dodging!” Jesse says, Yanmega keeps dodging the attack as Heracross keeps swinging its fist, as time ticks down, Heracross starts to get tired, “Yanmega Steel Wing!” Jesse shouts, Yanmega’s wings start glowing and it charges into Heracross with them, sending it flying to the ground knocked out, the clock stops and the screen changes to Jesse and Yanmega’s face’s saying ‘Winner’ Jesse and Yanmega have won the Bug Type Contest, Jesse grabs Yanmega and hugs it and start dancing, James and Meowth hug and cry,
“She won!” they say, as Wobbuffet waves pom poms in the air, a few moments later Jesse stands on the stage with Yanmega and the contest host hands Jesse a green ribbon, “Congratulations Jesselina and Yanmega you have won the Flutter Ribbon!” the contest hosts says, Jesse holds the ribbon into the air,
“Grand Festival here I come!”
Back at the gym, Cole is ready with his next Pokemon, “I choose Purrlit!” he says throwing out the pokeball and Purrlit emerges, “Nice Purrlit” Bolton says, “Good choice”, “Thanks” Cole replies
“Lets go Purrlit, Ember!” Cole shouts out Purrlit’s mouth fills with fire and it shoots out orange glowing bullets at Psytric, “Psytric, Psychic!” Bolton calls out, Psytric stops the embers using its Psychic, “I knew you would do that!” Cole says, “Now Purrlit charge in and use Iron Tail!” Cole shouts, Bolton is stunned, realizing that if Psytric stops it Psychic attack to move, the embers will hit it and if it doesn’t move it will still get hit by the Iron Tail, Purrlit charges up and swings its tail at Psytric and hits it directly sending it crashing to the ground, “Psytric!” Bolton shouts out, Psytric lies on the ground struggling to get up, “Quickly Purrlit, Ember!” Cole shouts, Purrlit’s mouth fills up with flames again and shoots the embers out at Psytric, hitting it directly again, “Yeah!” the group shout, Psytric goes flying across the ground knocked out, “Psytric is unable to battle, Purrlit wins!” the referee shouts, “Good battle Cole!” the group shout out,
“Yes it was good thinking” Bolton says, “You really got me with that Iron Tail”, “But now I’m down to my last Pokemon” he says,
“For my last Pokemon I choose Raizodon!” Bolton shouts as he throws out a pokeball, the pokeball goes flying through the air and bursts open to reveal a big light brown and light blue pokemon, “Raizodon?” Cole says pulling out his pokedex,
“Raizodon, the Storm Pokemon, Raizodon is the evolved form of Raizid, it can absorb electricity through the spikes on its tail and head that it can release in powerful blasts”
“So Raizodon is the evolved form of Raizid” Ash says, “Looks like it could be tough”
“I bet Raizodon is slow because of its size so, Quick attack Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Purrlit charges up to Raizodon is a flash of light, “Raizodon…” Bolton says calmly, “Stomp”
As Purrlit gets closer, Raizodon lifts its foot and stomps on the ground causing a massive shockwave, knocking Purrlit away, “Oh no!” the group shout from the stands, “What Raizodon lacks in speed, it makes up for is strength” Electra says, Purrlit goes crashing and tumbling to the ground, and it struggles to get back up, “Whoa that was a powerful Stomp attack, Purrlit’s hurt bad” Cole says to himself, Purrlit gets back up off the ground, “Purrlit, Ember!” Purrlit fills its mouth with fire and fires the glowing bullets at Raizodon, “Stay there!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon does so and the embers hit it, “What?” Cole says, “Cole, Raizodon is part Ground type, Fire type attacks won’t hurt it!” Brock shouts out to Cole, “Oh” Cole says, “Raizodon, Thunder Punch!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon’s fist start glowing yellow and sparks form around it, it charges at Purrlit and hits it with a powerful punch also shocking Purrlit, Purrlit goes flying across the ground knocked out, “Oh no Purrlit!” Cole shouts, Cole pulls out a pokeball and returns Purrlit back into its pokeball, “Good job Purrlit” he says to the ball, he then tucks it away, “Looks like Cole is down to Quagsire” Ella says,
Cole pulls out a pokeball and throws it out, and Quagsire appears, “this is the last battle Cole” Bolton says, “And I’m ready!” he replies,
“Raizodon, Stomp!” Bolton shouts, Raizodon lifts its foot and smashes it on the ground,
“Quick Quagsire jump” Cole shouts, as the shockwaves come towards Quagsire, it quickly jumps into the air and avoids the attack, Quagsire starts falling down to the ground, “Quagsire, Water Gun!” Cole shouts, as Quagsire falls it fires a blast of water at Raizodon hitting it, “Good shot!” the group cheer, as Raizodon is hit by the water gun and Quagsire lands on the ground, “Raizodon, Thundershock!” Bolton calls out, Raizodon opens is mouth and releases a blast of electricity at Quagsire and it gets hit, “Oh no!” Cole shouts, after being shocked Cole is stunned to see that Quagsire is okay, “I thought for sure that was gonna end it” Cole says to himself, “Lets go Quagsire, Water Gun!” Cole shouts, Quagsire opens its mouth and fires a blast of water at Raizodon soaking it, “Now Quagsire Ice Punch!” Cole shouts, Quagsire’s fist start glowing a light blue color and mist surrounds it, Quagsire charges in to punch Raizodon, “Deflect it Raizodon, Thunder Punch!” Bolton shouts, Raizodon and Quagsire charge at each other with their glowing fists and the punch each other, causing a massive explosion of ice and electricity, “Oh no!” Cole shouts as the battlefield fills with smoke, everyone awaits to see if the battle it over.
The smoke clears and they see Quagsire and Raizodon both still standing but are breathing heavily,
Raizodon and Quagsire stare at each other puffing, until they both fall to the ground hurt but not out of the battle, “Oh no!” Ella says, “Think Cole, think…”Cole says to himself, “Oh yeah!” he says, “Quagsire, Dew Drop!” he shouts, Quagsire shoots water into the air and it falls onto it healing it, Quagsire gets back up “Oh no!” Bolton says, “Lets finish this Quagsire!” Cole shouts, “Water Gun!”, Quagsire’s mouth fills up with water and it releases a blast of twirling water at Raizodon, hitting it directly and sending it crashing to the ground knocked out, “Raizodon is unable to battle, Cole and Quagsire win the battle!” The referee shouts, “Yeah!” the group cheer as Cole and Quagsire dance around, “We did it Quagsire, we won our second gym medal!” he says.
A few moments later Bolton walks over to Cole and Quagsire holding out a tray with a small silver and white medal, “Here you go Cole, this is the Static Medal” Bolton says, Cole takes the medal off the tray and holds it in the air, “I won the Static Medal!” he says as Quagsire jumps around him.
“That was a really good battle Cole, you deserve it!” Ella says, “With all that training you did, its no wonder you won” Ash says, “Thanks guys” Cole says blushing, “Now Ash, I think its time for our battle” Electra says, “I think so too!” Ash says clutching his fist.
