Episode 30 – Old School Rivals (Part 1) (Had to have 2 parts since its a long story)

The sun was high in the sky when it happened. It was blaring down heat, making the group of travelers sweat like crazy. It was sitting in the sky, its bright blue throne, happily making the lives of them miserable. The sun was doing its job.
Ash stood shoulder to shoulder with Brock, smiling as he strode over the verdant grass beneath his feet. He didn’t mind the sun. Not one bit. They’d arrive in Lushus Town soon anyway, so they could take a break in an air-conditioned Pokémon Centre there.
Chirping from wild Cheepip and Pidgey could be heard on the treetops, which lined the sides of the paths. Green bushes sat at the forest base where wild Weedle and Oddish played, and a bright blue sky where wild Taillow and Swellow flew, Ash turned to Brock and Ella and Cole, sighing. He was tired. They were all tired, “Hey guys, how about we stop for a little break?” he asks them, “I guess we could take a break” Brock says, he pulls out a map and everyone looks, “Lushus Town is still a little while away, but there’s a cycling path the leads right to it” he says pointing to a spot on the map, “A cycling path? Is it faster to go that way?” Ash asks as Pikachu sit on his shoulder peering down onto the map, “It sure is” Brock says with a confident smile on his face, “Then it’s settled, we’ll take the cycling path…after we take a break” says Ash.
The group comes to a large open space of lush green grass and flowers everywhere Ash walks into the middle of the clearing and Ash just collapses
“Ahhh…” he sighs in relief “This is heaven” he says as Pikachu lies beside him, Brock, Ella and Cole sit down and take a breather, “This is relaxing” Ella says as she leans back on the ground with his face pointing into the air as a gentle breeze flows through her hair, “Very…” Cole replies as he sits on an old wooden log, “How about lunch?” Brock asks everyone, everyone quickly looks at Brock, “Always!” they all say with a big smile on each of their faces.
A few moments later the group are sitting in the grass eating delicious sandwiches that Brock has made, while all of their Pokemon eat their Pokemon Food, Ash looks over to Ella who is sitting across from him, “So Ella, any ideas on who you’re gonna use for your next contest?” He asks then takes a big bite of his sandwich, “I haven’t really thought about it” she replies, “I guess I could give Tweetot a try, since I haven’t used it in a contest yet” she says as she looks over to Tweetot who shares its food with Mawclaw,
“Tweetot doesn’t have any experience in contests, if your gonna use it, you should really get training” says Cole, “Oh don’t you worry about that” Ella says, “We’ll get right to training after lunch!” she says with confidence.
All of a sudden the group hear rustling in the bushes behind them, they quickly turn to see what it is, the rustling gets louder and louder until…out pops an Eevee, “Eevee?” they all say, Eevee sees them and smiles and runs over to them, acting as if it knows them, “Wait isn’t that…” Ash says until he’s interrupted by someone calling “Eevee come back!” a girl with brown hair emerges from the trees, the group sees her and immediately know who it is, “Trissy!” they all say, “Huh?” Trissy says,
“Oh, hey guys!” she says, Ella runs up to Trissy and greets her
, “I thought that Eevee was yours!” she says,
“Yeah, we were walking through the trees when Eevee picked up on a scent, which I’m guessing was you guys, and it just went running” Trissy says as Eevee jumps into her arms.
The boys walk up to the girls, “So Trissy what are you doing here?” Ash asks,
“Oh, I was just on my way back from Lushus Town” she says, “Lushus Town, that’s where we’re heading!” Ash says,
“It is, that’s great, you’ll love it there, it’s so peaceful and calm, and there’s lots of beautiful flowers, there’s even a breeding center and a contest hall there too” she says, “A contest hall?” Ella replies,
“Yeah, they have a contest there every week, and I just so happened to have won a ribbon there” Trissy says
”Really!” Ella says with joy, “Can I see it!”, Trissy nods and ruffles through her bag and pulls out a Ribbon case and opens it up, inside lies 2 ribbons, 1 Pink Ribbon with White sprites and a new ribbon, a Orange one with white spots, “Wow its beautiful!” Ella says with hearts in her eyes,
“So Ella have you won any new Ribbons?” Trissy asks, “Unfortunately I haven’t, I still have just the 1” she says,
Trissy puts her hand on Ella’s shoulder, “Oh you’ll get there,” she says comforting her.
Suddenly another rustle is heard in the bushes, a little green Pokemon jumps out of the bushes and hops around the group, “Ah, this is with you?” Ash says pointing to the little green hopping Pokemon,
“No, it’s not” Trissy says
“Jumple! Come back here!” a voice says coming from the bushes, a boy with blond hair and a black sleeveless top and a white t-shirt steps out of the trees and sees the group, “Jumple, come back here” he says, Jumple smiles at the boy and hops over to him,
the boy picks up the little green Pokemon, “You gotta stop hopping away from me Jumple” the boy says,
“A Jumple?” Cole says pulling out his Pokedex.
“Jumple, the Hopping Pokemon, Jumple have tiny springs in their little legs that let it jump up to 100ft. in the sky.” The Pokedex says, “Wow, it sure can jump” Cole says.
The boys looks over to the group, “haha, I’m sorry about that, Jumple likes to hop around, it often hops too far from me, anyway, my name is…” the boy says as he suddenly stops,
“Hey, I know you!” he says pointing to Cole,
“Ah you do?” he says in confusion, “Yeah I do!” he then sees Ella and Trissy, “I know you guys as well!” he says pointing to them, “You do?” they both say confused as well,
“Yeah, you tow are Ella and Trissy and your Cole!” he says, “Don’t you recognize me?” he says
”You do look familiar,” Ella, says, “Hey are you Rodney?” Trissy says, “Yep, I sure am!” he says,
Ella then snaps and realizes who he is, “Oh yeah Rodney, you went to Training school with us!” she says smiling, “That’s me!” he says smiling back, “Na…I still don’t know you” Cole says,
“Come on Cole, it’s Rodney, he sat behind you in class!” Ella says, “Sorry I don’t remember you” Cole says shaking his head, “That’s okay, I was a bit of a lone wolf at Training School, I was really shy” Rodney says, “Well you don’t seem shy anymore” Ella says, and the laugh.
Cole just stands there with a look of confusion on his face.
“Hi Rodney, I know we haven’t met before, I’m Ash and this is Pikachu” Ash says shaking Rodney’s hand, and Rodney shakes back, “And I’m Brock” he says, “Hey I know you too!” he says, “Huh you do?” Brock says confused, “Yeah, you were a gym leader in the Kanto region!” he says, “Ah, that’s me, I used to be a gym leader in Pewter City, but my little brother has taken over” Brock says, “That’s so cool!”
“So Rodney, have you entered into anything?” Ash asks,
”Yeah, I’m entered into almost everything, Gyms, contests and even gym contests” he says,
“Whoa that’s a lot” Ella says, “Have you any badges, ribbons or medals?” she asks,
Rodney wops outs 3 cases, 1 blue 1 red and 1 orange, the blue case contains 2 gym badges, the Crescent Badge and Lightning Badge, the red case contains 2 ribbons, 1 blue ribbon with red stripes and 1 yellow ribbon with purple spots and the orange case contains 2 Gym medals, the Lucid Medal and the Twilight Medal, “Wow that’s a lot of achievements there!” Ash says,
“Thanks” Rodney replies, “So anyone up for a battle?” Rodney says, “I am!” Cole says with eagerness, “I’d love to battle!” he says, “Hey I have an idea” Trissy says, “How about we have a tag battle?”
“A tag battle?” Rodney and Cole say, “Yeah, Ella and I against the 2 of you” she says pointing to them both,
“How about it Ella?” Trissy says, “I’m in!” she replies, Rodney and Cole look at each other and nod, “We’re in too!” the both say, “Brock could you referee?” Cole asks, “Sure thing” Brock replies.
Moments pass and Cole and Rodney stand opposing Ella and Trissy ready to battle, and Brock stand to the side in the middle and Ash sits on the wooden long with Pikachu while Ash’s and Brocks Pokemon play in the grass.
“Each trainer will use 2 pokemon each” he says, “The winners will be the team who beats the other teams Pokemon, there will be no switching of Pokemon” he says,
“This is gonna be so good” Cole says, “I don’t know why we didn’t do this before!”
“Ready…” Brock says lifting his hands to the sky, “Battle!” he shouts waving them towards the ground
“Righty oh, I choose Jumple!” Rodney says throwing a pokeball and Jumple emerges from the Pokeball.
“I choose Purrlit!” Cole says throwing a Pokeball and Purrlit appears.
“Okay, I’ll choose Eevee!” Trissy says as Eevee appears in a flash of white light,
“And I’ll choose Pruddy!” Ella says throwing a Pokeball and Pruddy appears in a wave of glitter and light.
“Lets go Purrlit, Ember!” Cole calls out, “And you Jumple, Bounce!” Rodney shouts Jumple jumps into the air

Purrlit fills its mouth with hot embers and fires them at Pruddy, “Dodge it Pruddy, and use Swift!” Ella calls out, Pruddy jumps to the side and the embers miss is, it then jumps into the air and slashes its tail around to create a swift attack that heads right for Purrlit, “Dodge Purrlit, Quick Attack!” Cole shouts, Purrlit stands ready and just as the Swift is about to hit, it quickly dodges and uses Quick Attack on Pruddy, “Oh no!” Ella says, Jumple is in the air and is ready to bounce onto Eevee, “Eevee help Pruddy, and use Shadow Ball!” Trissy calls out, Eevee runs before the injured Pruddy and blasts a shadow ball at Purrlit, but just as it fires the Shadow Ball, Jumple comes crashing down to the ground and lands on Eevee, knocking it to the ground, the Shadow ball comes flying over to Purrlit and hits it dead on knocking it to the ground, “oh no Purrlit!” Cole says, but Purrlit is okay and it gets up from the attack “Eevee!” Trissy calls out, Eevee struggles to get up but it manages to and stands ready to keep on battling,
“Jumple, Bounce again!” Rodney shouts, “No not again” Trissy says, “Eevee use dig!” Trissy shouts, Eevee jumps a little into the air and starts digging into the ground, “mmm…”Rodney mumbles to himself.
“Purrlit, use Quick Attack again!” Cole calls out, Purrlit runs up to Pruddy and hits it dead on, knocking it to the ground, “Pruddy get up quick, use Glamorize!” she calls, Pruddy gets up and waves its tail around to create sparkles of light that captivate Purrlit, “Now Pruddy, Swift!” She shouts, Pruddy waves its tail again to release another Swift attack, this time the attack hits Purrlit, knocking it across the field and also knocking it out, “Yay good job Pruddy!” Ella says with joy as Pruddy jumps around,
“Return Purrlit” Cole says holding out a Pokeball and a red beam of light hits Purrlit sucking it inside, “Awesome job Purrlit” he says.
Jumple is still in the air while Eevee is still underground, “Jumple has to land sometime” Trissy says to Rodney, “And that’s when we’ll attack”
Rodney lets out a little laugh, “That’s what you think!” he says, “Jumple use Detect!” he shouts, Jumple’s eyes start glowing red and it starts scanning the ground to sense movement, it then see the vibrations in the ground, it found Eevee, “Now Jumple, Signal Beam!” Rodney calls out, the two antenna on Jumple’s head start glowing and a ball of yellow light starts forming between them, it then lets the a massive blast of energy to the ground blasting up rock and dust, and also Eevee, who gets hit by the Signal Beam, “Oh no Eevee!” Trissy shouts as Eevee lies knocked out on the ground.
“That was awesome Rodney!” Cole says with stars in his eyes, “Thanks Cole!” he replies.
Meanwhile Team Rocket are hiding in the bushes watching the battle unfold, “So who is that blond twerp?” Jesse says “I think he said he went to Training School with the other boy twerp and the twerpet” James says
“And looky there” Meowth says, Jesse and James look to where Meowth is pointing and they see Pikachu playing with Herovor, Salatad, Mawclaw, Sudowoodo and Moonky in the grass while everyone has their backs to them,
“Mmm…the twerps are too involved in the battle to see what’s going on behind them,” says James,
“And if they can’t see what’s going on, then they won’t see us stealing Pikachu!” Meowth says,
Team Rocket let out a little giggle, “This is gonna be so easy” Meowth says rubbing his paws together.
Back at the battle, Cole is ready to choose his next Pokemon, “Toron come on out!” he shouts as he throws a Pokeball and Toron comes out in a bug flash of light,
Now Rodney and Cole are battling with Jumple and Toron, “Okay my next Pokemon” Trissy says, “Shellos, go!” she says throwing a Pokeball and a little purple Pokemon comes out on the battlefield.
“Lets go!” Rodney and Cole shout out, “Jumple Quick Attack!” Rodney calls out, “Toron you use Rollout!” Cole shouts, Jumple runs up in a flash of light and Toron rolls up and charges at Pruddy and Shellos, “Pruddy dodge with Quick Attack!” Ella calls out, “Shellos, use Water Pulse!” Trissy calls out,
Pruddy stands ready and Jumple goes in for the attack, just as Jumple is about to hit, Pruddy dives out of the way and uses Quick Attack on Jumple, knocking it backwards across the ground, “Jumple!” Rodney calls out in shock,
Shellos uses Water Pulse on Toron who is charging up to it, “Move Toron!” Cole shouts, just as the Water Pulse is about to hit it, Toron rolls in the air, “Now Toron, Cannonball!” Cole shouts, Toron starts glowing and shoots down to the ground as Shellos and hits it directly, “Oh no!” Trissy calls out, Shellos hits the ground hard but it’s not out yet, Jumple is hurt and struggles to get up, “Pruddy, Swift now!” Ella calls out, Pruddy whips its tail and a Swift attack comes spinning out and hits Jumple, this time knocking it out, “Oh no Jumple” Rodney says, he pulls out a Pokeball and returns it back in with a flash of red light.
Meanwhile Team Rocket disguises themselves as small bushes and sneak up to Pikachu and the other Pokemon playing in the field, they sneak up closer and closer and no one notices, not even the pokemon, James sneaks up behind Salatad and grabs it shoving it into a sack, Jesse sneaks up behind Herovor and shoves it into a sack, Pikachu notices that Salatad and Herovor is missing and turns to see Team Rocket about to grab Moonky, “Pika!” Pikachu shouts, Moonky looks at it and Pikachu points behind it, Moonky turns around to see 3 bushes with arms sticking out of them, Moonky looks at the bushes confused, it uses Psychic to lift the bushes off Team Rocket revealing it, “Pika!” Pikachu shouts, “Huh oh” Team Rocket says, “Busted” Meowth says, Pikachu sees the 2 sacks with Salatad and Herovor in them, Pikachu and Moonky look at Team Rocket mad, Pikachu charges up and releases a Thunderbolt while Moonky uses Psychic to get Herovor and Salatad away from Team Rocket, the thunderbolt hits Team Rocket blasting them off,
After all the commotion, Ash turns around to see Pikachu and the others playing again.
The battle is still going on and Rodney is about to choose his last Pokemon “Alright!” He says with determination, “I choose you!” he says throwing the Pokeball, and it a big flash of white light a small round star shaped Pokemon with blue spikes emerges, “What’s that?” Ash says pulling out his Pokedex.

.Purrlit fills its mouth with hot embers and fires them at Pruddy, “Dodge it Pruddy, and use Swift!” Ella calls out, Pruddy jumps to the side and the embers miss is, it then jumps into the air and slashes its tail around to create a swift attack that heads right for Purrlit, “Dodge Purrlit, Quick Attack!” Cole shouts, Purrlit stands ready and just as the Swift is about to hit, it quickly dodges and uses Quick Attack on Pruddy, “Oh no!” Ella says, Jumple is in the air and is ready to bounce onto Eevee, “Eevee help Pruddy, and use Shadow Ball!” Trissy calls out, Eevee runs before the injured Pruddy and blasts a shadow ball at Purrlit, but just as it fires the Shadow Ball, Jumple comes crashing down to the ground and lands on Eevee, knocking it to the ground, the Shadow ball comes flying over to Purrlit and hits it dead on knocking it to the ground, “oh no Purrlit!” Cole says, but Purrlit is okay and it gets up from the attack “Eevee!” Trissy calls out, Eevee struggles to get up but it manages to and stands ready to keep on battling,
“Jumple, Bounce again!” Rodney shouts, “No not again” Trissy says, “Eevee use dig!” Trissy shouts, Eevee jumps a little into the air and starts digging into the ground, “mmm…”Rodney mumbles to himself.
“Purrlit, use Quick Attack again!” Cole calls out, Purrlit runs up to Pruddy and hits it dead on, knocking it to the ground, “Pruddy get up quick, use Glamorize!” she calls, Pruddy gets up and waves its tail around to create sparkles of light that captivate Purrlit, “Now Pruddy, Swift!” She shouts, Pruddy waves its tail again to release another Swift attack, this time the attack hits Purrlit, knocking it across the field and also knocking it out, “Yay good job Pruddy!” Ella says with joy as Pruddy jumps around,
“Return Purrlit” Cole says holding out a Pokeball and a red beam of light hits Purrlit sucking it inside, “Awesome job Purrlit” he says.
Jumple is still in the air while Eevee is still underground, “Jumple has to land sometime” Trissy says to Rodney, “And that’s when we’ll attack”
Rodney lets out a little laugh, “That’s what you think!” he says, “Jumple use Detect!” he shouts, Jumple’s eyes start glowing red and it starts scanning the ground to sense movement, it then see the vibrations in the ground, it found Eevee, “Now Jumple, Signal Beam!” Rodney calls out, the two antenna on Jumple’s head start glowing and a ball of yellow light starts forming between them, it then lets the a massive blast of energy to the ground blasting up rock and dust, and also Eevee, who gets hit by the Signal Beam, “Oh no Eevee!” Trissy shouts as Eevee lies knocked out on the ground.
“That was awesome Rodney!” Cole says with stars in his eyes, “Thanks Cole!” he replies.
Meanwhile Team Rocket are hiding in the bushes watching the battle unfold, “So who is that blond twerp?” Jesse says “I think he said he went to Training School with the other boy twerp and the twerpet” James says
“And looky there” Meowth says, Jesse and James look to where Meowth is pointing and they see Pikachu playing with Herovor, Salatad, Mawclaw, Sudowoodo and Moonky in the grass while everyone has their backs to them,
“Mmm…the twerps are too involved in the battle to see what’s going on behind them,” says James,
“And if they can’t see what’s going on, then they won’t see us stealing Pikachu!” Meowth says,
Team Rocket let out a little giggle, “This is gonna be so easy” Meowth says rubbing his paws together.
Back at the battle, Cole is ready to choose his next Pokemon, “Toron come on out!” he shouts as he throws a Pokeball and Toron comes out in a bug flash of light,
Now Rodney and Cole are battling with Jumple and Toron, “Okay my next Pokemon” Trissy says, “Shellos, go!” she says throwing a Pokeball and a little purple Pokemon comes out on the battlefield.
“Lets go!” Rodney and Cole shout out, “Jumple Quick Attack!” Rodney calls out, “Toron you use Rollout!” Cole shouts, Jumple runs up in a flash of light and Toron rolls up and charges at Pruddy and Shellos, “Pruddy dodge with Quick Attack!” Ella calls out, “Shellos, use Water Pulse!” Trissy calls out,
Pruddy stands ready and Jumple goes in for the attack, just as Jumple is about to hit, Pruddy dives out of the way and uses Quick Attack on Jumple, knocking it backwards across the ground, “Jumple!” Rodney calls out in shock,
Shellos uses Water Pulse on Toron who is charging up to it, “Move Toron!” Cole shouts, just as the Water Pulse is about to hit it, Toron rolls in the air, “Now Toron, Cannonball!” Cole shouts, Toron starts glowing and shoots down to the ground as Shellos and hits it directly, “Oh no!” Trissy calls out, Shellos hits the ground hard but it’s not out yet, Jumple is hurt and struggles to get up, “Pruddy, Swift now!” Ella calls out, Pruddy whips its tail and a Swift attack comes spinning out and hits Jumple, this time knocking it out, “Oh no Jumple” Rodney says, he pulls out a Pokeball and returns it back in with a flash of red light.
Meanwhile Team Rocket disguises themselves as small bushes and sneak up to Pikachu and the other Pokemon playing in the field, they sneak up closer and closer and no one notices, not even the pokemon, James sneaks up behind Salatad and grabs it shoving it into a sack, Jesse sneaks up behind Herovor and shoves it into a sack, Pikachu notices that Salatad and Herovor is missing and turns to see Team Rocket about to grab Moonky, “Pika!” Pikachu shouts, Moonky looks at it and Pikachu points behind it, Moonky turns around to see 3 bushes with arms sticking out of them, Moonky looks at the bushes confused, it uses Psychic to lift the bushes off Team Rocket revealing it, “Pika!” Pikachu shouts, “Huh oh” Team Rocket says, “Busted” Meowth says, Pikachu sees the 2 sacks with Salatad and Herovor in them, Pikachu and Moonky look at Team Rocket mad, Pikachu charges up and releases a Thunderbolt while Moonky uses Psychic to get Herovor and Salatad away from Team Rocket, the thunderbolt hits Team Rocket blasting them off,
After all the commotion, Ash turns around to see Pikachu and the others playing again.
The battle is still going on and Rodney is about to choose his last Pokemon “Alright!” He says with determination, “I choose you!” he says throwing the Pokeball, and it a big flash of white light a small round star shaped Pokemon with blue spikes emerges, “What’s that?” Ash says pulling out his Pokedex.
